Keyboards
On my new Dell system, it's got a cardreader. More to the point, it's got an idiot menu key... *right* next to the right control key, and just where the annoying keyboard design has it cut down from the oversize space bar ASCII art <ctrl><WinDoze> <tall[ ]<tall<tall<tall <ctrl> Alt>[ tall spacebar ] alt> Win>

Replacement 7960 Handset
After 4 hours of debugging codecs, changing config files, etc. as a result of not being able to capture voice from a Cisco 7960, I eventually found that the mic in the handset appears to be dead. Does anyone know where I can get a new handset (just the part you hold to your head, everything else on the phone works fine)? Or, does anyone know how to open one up? I tried doing a little prying

How to lock down the Wed Admin interface
Hello. I have setup Icecast 1.3.12 on my Redhat 9 server. When using the Web Admin interface all I have to do is click 'set' and it shows me all the passwords etc for the system. How should I best protect this information from prying eyes?? Thanks in advance Hasham --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To

Dear R Core and CRAN Team, I received a warning that the rdyncall package [1] will be archived and removed from the main CRAN distribution at 7th of September if I can not get rid of .Internal calls. > From: ripley at stats.ox.ac.uk (Prof Brian Ripley) > Subject: Use of .Internal in CRAN package rdyncall > Date: August 14, 2012 11:09:06 AM GMT+02:00 > To: dadler at uni-goettingen.de

Standard method to read current listeners without user/password
Is there a standard method to read the current number of listeners from an icecast2 server without knowing the admin user/password? We produce radio broadcasting/streaming software for Windows which can show the current number of listeners. Many Icecast hosting companies won't provide the admin password as they have lots of other customers using the same server, so the software

Encoding Speex Into a SWF Version 10 Sound Stream
Adobe's "SWF File Format Specification, Version 10" supposedly allows a speex-encoded stream to be wrapped in a .swf file as a sound stream, however, I have been unable to find an example of such a file anywhere. Can someone please point me to such an example file? Note that I prefer speex encoded as a sound stream and NOT a sound event in order to reduce latency on playback at the

Silly question about KVM
I was wondering, if I do not have hardware that natively supports full virtualization...and I choose to use KVM, will my VMs be running in some form of chip emulation (and therefore terribly slow). To date, I've been using Xen and am very comfortable with it. I have some fears that later whenever Xen is dropped - I'll have to consider KVM. Also, will Xen be carried forward should

Node.js binding -- feedback wanted
Would love to get some eyes on this code. It needs to surface more functionality for basic use, I suspect, but I'm not sure precisely what... https://github.com/networkimprov/node-xapian

Ok, I've given up
Sigh, In the interest of moving forward on this project I've given up trying to get Dovecot to support mailboxes, rather I've tweaked around in qmail and had it deliver into a mail directory on a disk, that isn't NFS mounted. That got me past the various locking complaints and "operation not supported" on home directories that were mounted from the NetApp filer. Going as

Windows 10 Client - Samba 3 Server - NT4 Style PDC
FWIW; I connected to the domain on the rolled back 1703 machine. It wasn't connecting due to spelling errors on my end when setting the various keys (Damn those post 40 eye/vision things - don't get older kiddies). Base on my experiences then, if you're connected to the NT4 style domain prior to the 1803 update, then you'll stay connected. On all my 1803 machines, the domain

"Offline" rails app?
Hope this question doesn''t sound too strange. This is a typical synchronization scenario, and I''ve done this a lot with .Net "rich clients", but I''m fairly new to web programming and to rails. I''m developing browser-based applications that will sometimes have to be disconnected from the internet. One example is a browser-based app for conference

Cannot copy back profile
Hi! I have a problem with roaming profiles which I don't understand. I can login and logout from XP with a samba PDC with ldapsam flawlessly, but for some reasons when the profile does not belong to the user itself windows tells me upon logout that it cannot copy back some files to the server. Weird, because the directory where the profile resides is readable and writable by the user,

Troubles using numeric in s4 class union
Hi all, I came across an issue in using the Matrix package which made it that I could only subset Matrices using the numeric class, but could not using integers. Steps to reproduce the problem: library(Matrix) # this class has *nothing* to do with Matrix setClass("MyClass", representation(myvalue = "numeric"), prototype(myvalue = NA_real_)) # this class also has
