smbd Process Changes Ownership - lsof output
Hi,
When using lsof, I see that smbd changes ownership from the actual user
who made the connection, to root. Also seeing odd behavior with certain
files accessed from XP boxes suddenly becoming "read only" to the user
mid edit, and appears to be related.
Ex: lsof output at 8:45 AM:
smbd 11987 user1 cwd DIR 253,3 4096 704687

SLA in 1.4.18: i'm going crazy.
Hi all,
i'm trying from several days to setup a SLA on my machine with some
THOMSON 2030.
My goal is to bind every F key to an extension (NOT a trunk).
So, F1 = 201, F2 = 202, F3 = 203, and so on...
I'm googled thousand of pages and many more confusing concepts are in my mind.
My server uses extensions with numbering 2XX placed in context 'phones'.
I set yet in sip.conf:

Server going crazy!!!
I have dovecot-0.99.11-1FC3.4. I use Pine on the server and Outlook
2003 on remote computers to access IMAP and POP3 to access via my
blackberry 7100t. It seems that after using IMAP and then going back to
pine it somehow refreshes everything and all the messages are picked up on
my blackberry once again as if the emails are new. So everything that is
in my inbox is now pushed or grabbed

have a SGI Octane that has samba on it then I have one windows 98 PC
connected to it (they can ping each others IP addresses so I know the cable

File locking with smbd
Hello,
I have a problem and haven't been able to figure it out yet. I was
running a test of an upload mechanism the product my company makes uses.
The idea is that users can upload files to a share, and we
process/archive those files when they have been added. It would try to
detect if a file is in use, and if that were so, it would skip that
particular file and come back to it

ps -A | grep smbd?
Hi folks,
I have had a samba 2.2.8a running for a while on a suse box.
Now recently I have had some strange problems.
"ps -A | grep nmb" Shows nothing.
But, "lsof | grep mbd" shows me smbd and nmbd are running.
The smbd.pid and nmbd.pib are in /usr/var/locks/.
Now, why out of the blue would "ps -A" not show the processes?
I upgraded samba to 2.2.8a a while ago,

one mongrel with *lots* of close_wait tcp connections
* cross posted to the mongrel mailing list*
Hi, I''m running into a strange issue where one mongrel will sometimes
develop hundreds of CLOSE_WAIT TCP connections, mostly to apache (I
think --
see sample lsof output below). I haven''t had a chance to get the
mongrel
with this behavior into USR1 debug mode yet. I wrote a little loop
below that will catch it next time.

smbd hanging because netbios-ssn TCP connexion not seen as down
Hello,
(Samba 3.0.21c / Linux 2.4.27)
a smbd process was hanging on a file server since one day. This smbd
process was locking some files on the server, and that was causing some
share violation for a Windows user (well, that what I think).
I did a lsof on the smbd process, and I saw that the TCP netbios-ssn
connection was still seen as established with the machine of the windows
user that

develop hundreds of CLOSE_WAIT TCP connections, mostly to apache (I think --

This happens a couple times a day on average at seemingly random times.
