For iSCSI, have a look at iscsi-init at sourceforge. http://iscsi-init.sourceforge.net. Load it as a module in an initrd and it uses some kernel parameters and automatically configures the network and then

Test report xen_4.11.1~pre.20180911.5acdd26fdc+dfsg-2
I'm just dumping all I got in here, after initial feedback we can see how to organize todo's around it. tl;dr: * Does not upgrade cleanly from 4.8 packages, so we have to prevent this from entering testing until we fix that. * Live migration is broken, explodes with memory allocation errors. ---- >8 ---- 1. Build packages * I have built salsa/master using pbuilder targeting sid.

EXT3 and large directories (fwd)
(please reply on-list, so everybody can comment/help) Matt, thanks for the details, but apart from mount-option tuning and dir_index (which you've already enabled), I dunno why ls(1) would take *hours* to stat ~1M files... out of curiosity: are you able to try a newer kernel? does it change anything? Christian. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- The dir_index was enabled during

Quantreg - 'could not find function"rq"'
Hi all, I'm having some troubles with the Quantreg package. I am using R version 2.10.0, and have downloaded the most recent version of Quantreg (4.44) and SparseM (0.83 - required package). However, when I try to run an analysis (e.g. fit1<-rq(y~x, tau=0.5)) I get an error message saying that the function "rq" could not be found. I get the same message when I try to search

Bug#679533: Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0
retitle Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0 thanks This week again this bug occurred again so we are trying to create some kind of reproduce algorithm. First we've created two virtual machines named koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net and netappsim.bofh.hq.mendix.net. We've added 29 vifs to koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net. During this tests we've always had a ping

filesystem screwed after aborted fsck.ext3
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 hi, a good friend of mine had some trouble with his fs yesterday. i have some details now and wonder if you have some thoughts on it, even it may turn out not to be an ext3 issue at all. sorry, the post is a bit too long: the ext3 fs was running for several months now on a RAID controller. due to a user error, the RAID controller decided to rebuild

zpool fails with panic in zio_ddt_free()
Hello all, I am not sure my original mail got through to the list (I haven''t received it back), so I attach it below. Anyhow, now I have a saved kernel crash dump of the system panicking when it tries to - I believe - deferred-release the corrupted deduped blocks which are no longer referenced by the userdata/blockpointer tree. As I previously wrote in my thread on unfixeable

RE: z-scores for different factor levels
Hi Stuart, I often use this small function standardize <- function(x) ( x - mean(x, na.rm=T) ) / sqrt(var(x, na.rm=T)) to standardize variables. You should be able to use this to do what you want by splitting the data frame into sections based on the factor level, using standardize() to create a new variable in each section, then paste the data frame back together. Something like: #

Ports
I realise this isn't exactly an R query, but does anyone know what ports I need to open in order to get the install package function working? It's blocked by our University firewall. I have been asked for the following info and I don't know where to find it or how to get it. I guess my computer knows this info - it knows where it's trying to connect to - but I don't

Finding functions in uninstalled libraries
(Many thanks to David Barron & Jonathan Baron for pointing me to 'recode' in the 'car' package). I think I've been told this before, but how do I search for a function/keyword in libraries I don't yet have installed? (ie. on the CRAN site I tried the search engines with "recode" etc., but didn't pick up the car package this way) Stuart Dr Stuart Leask

Problem getting Samba 3.0.14a to join NT domain as BDC
Hi list, This is driving me to distraction. I have installed the 3.0.14a RPMS on SLES8, and am following chapter 9 of the 'By Example' documentation, to migrate from an NT domain to a Samba domain backed by LDAP. I have followed the instructions up to the point where I enter: net rpc join -S pdc_it -U Administrator%password Unfortunately, this responds with: Creation of workstation

Automatic selection pf printers
Hi List, We have a large (6500 desktops) network distributed over a few dozen sites. The clients are (almost) all Windows95 and WinXP. We currently use Netware as our network operating system, and are looking at the possibility of moving to (Samba on) Linux to provide file and print services. One of the nice things about Novell NDS is that you can specify printers that are available to

X11 font problem
Dear R users, I've just upgraded from R 0.64.1 to 1.1.0 on a PC running Red Hat Linux 6.0.
