Recommendation for dialplan in case of DDoS atta cks?
I'm trying to formulate a strategy for our interconnected Asterisk IAX peers
to failover to the PSTN in the event of a DDoS. We currently use them like
this:
DID--->PRI--->Primary Asterisk--->IAX--->On-site Asterisk--->SIP
This works fine, and everyone is happy. One of my concerns, though, is if we
get DDoS'd - which happens probably once every couple of years. I'd

Manual OOM killing?
Hey guys and gals,
Yesterday I had one of my scientists kill one of my servers when his
program ran amok and gobbled up all the memory, or forked too many
processes, or I'm just not exactly sure what to be honest.
Is there something I can run manually in cron to look for rampant
programs and kill them? I know that may be hard to discern but I
could also include a list if "known

I deliberately didn't include some of these because the number of
translated messages were pathetic.

Bug report on xcp-storage-managers: tp crashes with exit status 139
Hi,
We found a crash in tp contained in the xcp-storage-managers package. You are being
contacted because your are listed as one of the maintainer of xcp-storage-managers.
We are planning to submit the bug to the Debian bug tracking system in two
weeks. We wanted to give you a heads-up, so that you some time to assess the
seriousness of the bug before it is publicly disclosed.

more PO files available at the TP
Hi,
At the translationproject there are four more languages available
than are included in the 1.42.10 tarball: Danish, Esperanto, Malay,
and Ukrainian. Please include these in your next release.
Attached patch adds the missing language codes to the po/LINGUAS
file. The easiest way to fetch the missing files (and the latest
updates) is to run:
rsync -Lrtvz

When it's just five percent, yes, that may be more of a nuisance

[LLVMdev] RFC: Change coding standard to not indent namespaces ever
Currently there is a mixture of indented namespaces and un-indented
namespaces in both LLVM and Clang. I think this is confusing and it wastes
developer time debating the issue. I'd like to pick one and stick with it
consistently.
Indenting cannot possibly work in many contexts -- file-wide namespaces
just make no sense to indent. So I don't think we should pick "always
indent".

Download OpenSSH through secure channel?
I am trying to download a version of OpenSSH newer than the one preinstalled with my OS. But sadly I find that I can only download it through *unsecured* plain http/ftp/rsync protocol, vulnerable to attacks by anyone in the network path. It is odd that *the* software about security and encryption across untrusted network is distributed to everyone insecurely and not encrypted. Is there any future

ddos attack causes high ksoftirqd cpu use
Hello List!
I got a small (50mbits or so) application layer ddos attack against a
few name servers (thousands of IPs sending lots of bogus A record
requests - weird) - one of the name servers was behind a shorewall
firewall. That firewall was running a 2.6.18-194.11.1.el5 kernel and
shorewall-4.4.11.1-1. I noticed that the shorewall host had ksoftirqd
using 100% of the CPU during the

First crack at this! Could use advice on a few questions...
Hi All, I'm J.D.
I'm trying to use wine to run a program called Bit Che. it runs to a certain point and then just freezes... sorta.
The program is a windows torrent search app, that searches all the major torrent sites at once for whatever "LEGAL" torrents I'm looking for.
So I tried running it with winehelper first... and it froze once I asked it to search, then I tried

Combatting DDoS attack
Hi,
I''ve been working the past 8 hrs combatting DDoS attacks on websites and dedicated servers I host for clients.
They''re hitting one specific IP address, but coming from thousands of external IP addresses.
I use:
shorewall-4.0.10-3.noarch
How can I tackle this? I''ve blocked many subnets in the blacklist file but it''s made very little difference.
