Hi All,
I am having 6 GB HD.
I had an old linux version installed and i tried to update with a new kernel

and after the new kernel installation too
I used Lilo configuration to switch between the 2 boot possibility.
But after i installed the 2.4.19 kernel i had the problem in boot:

Making TIMEOUT work?
I have problems getting the TIMEOUT value work the same way LILO/GRUB
does it.. ie it should wait until the timeout and then use the default
value. However, it goes straight for the default value without waiting
a single second (and a TIMEOUT value of 500 should mean 50 seconds,
as it counts in 1/10th of a second, right?)

linux /boot partition
Hello,
I have a RedHat Linux 7.2 system with a /boot partition on /dev/hda1. The grub
config mounts the boot partition on /boot and root on /dev/hda2.
However, when I try to boot from a syslinux floppy and mount the root filesystem
on /dev/hda2, the system seems to load the kernel and mount the the root
filesystem, but then stops. There is no error message, but init does not
proceed load.

Help on ext3 file system corruption issue
Hi All,
I m a novice developer of Linux applications. Recently I faced a file
system corruption. (I guess)
I have a Kernel 2.4.7-10 with ext3 file system in compact flash. The
system was up for 3 months and was running with average load conditions.
One fine day, it just started sending kernel messages on the serial
console. The message was like this.
EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,2)):

ext4?
Listee's...
I have a 5.5 box and I have formatted a partition as ext4 however I
can't mount it, the mount command is telling me its an unknown file
system type. fsck tells me the partition is a clean ext4 partition but
I can't mount it.
Some reasearch has lead me to believe the problem is that ext4 isn't
enabled in the kernel by default in 5.5 (this was originally a 5.2 box

Cannot get CentOS to install
I used google but did not come up with anything current to solve my problem.
I have not tried any other search engines yet.
There is not a search for the CentOS list so I am creating a new post.
I have tested the CentOS 5.2 and RHEL 5.3 CD's and they passed.
I had to use linux mediacheck ide=nodma to get them to pass.
The newest releases seem to most times fail with just linux mediacheck.

rpm -ivh --force RPMS/i386/bcm5700-7.1.22-1.i386.rpm
The system reboots fine and is using the new driver
I now want to update my

not sure how to setup ext3 on a slackware 7.1 system
Hi all,
On my slackware 7.1 system, in rc.S fsck is started.
In fstab there's the following line:
/dev/hda2 / ext3 defaults,noatime 1 1
from the readme I figured that I should put the line
append="rw rootflags=journal=102"
in lilo.conf
The system boots up, but I get the error message that the
root partition is already rw.
Should I just skip the filesystem

isolinux problem report
I have tried to use isolinux 2.05, and I am running into a problem where it
will not boot. I have previously used version 1.66, and the older version
works just fine. Changing nothing except dropping the new version in does
not work.
Below is all of the relevant info, I believe. This occurs on multiple
machines with different BIOS. I am currently in process of doing a binary
search to find the

Problem with data=journal on root file system.
I am using RedHat 7.2 w/ kernel 2.4.7-10. My / filesystem is configured
as ext3. I want to change it to use data=journaled instead of ordered.
If I mount it from a boot floppy, it mounts fine. (mount /dev/hda2 /mnt
-t ext3 -o data=journal). I have attempted to find the correct
procedure to start it up as journaled from grub to no avail. I have
created a new initrd image that works fine with

use of APPEND in default
Having fought my PXE config and eventually getting it to work (had to
comment out the group { } statments ?
I now come across another issue I cannot resolve and would appreciate some
help.
in my /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default file I have cause to use the APPEND
statement to pass options
to the kernel being used.
Unfortunately this line has now become longer than 255 characters and
