Active Directory - Which Samba version is needed?
Hi!
I'd like to setup a Samba server which should do user authentication
against an Active Directory. Our AD admins told me, that we do not have
Window NT 4.0 Domains available.
What I'm trying to accomplish, is that the users can login with the same
username/password they use with the AD. Also, if the password is
changed in the AD, this change should be reflected on the Samba server.

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active DirectoryDomain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
net ads join will add your samba box to the windows 2000 domain, and the domain does not have to support mixed mode. You will need to have kerberos setup and tested on your system (linux). Do you already have this done?

"Called name not present" - Howto solve?
Hello!
I've got a problem connecting my Linux Mandrake 8.0 box running
samba-2.2.0-5mdk to a Windows server.
I've been given the IP-Adress, Sharename and username:
IP\Share: \\164.56.65.199\transfer
Username: John Doe
(Note: It's not really "John Doe", but another name, but also with a
blank.)
There's no password.

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active Directory Domain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
Hello.
I've now compiled and installed Samba 3.0 alpha 21 on a Red Hat 8.0 box
(since I sadly don't have a current Mandrake box available in our
network).
Now I'm somewhat lost - what do I have to do, to make the Samba server
join the Active Directory (which doesn't support NT 4.0 Domains)?
Is "net ads join" the only thing I've got to do?
Where do I set which AD

Problmes joining Samba server to Active Directory
Hi.
I've now been told the name of our Kerberos server for the Active
Directory that I'm trying to join my Samba 3.0 alpha 21 to.
As described on
http://techupdate.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t481-s2122363-p2,00.html, I
configured /etc/krb5.conf like this:
[root@ugkbase samba]# cat /etc/krb5.conf

default = FILE:/var/log/krb5libs.log
kdc = FILE:/var/log/krb5kdc.log

Problem joining linux box to active directory domain
Hello, I'm having a hard time joining one linux server to an active
directory domain. I've searched everywhere for a solution but was
unsuccessful:
I went to samba.org and followed the examples in
http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/
The examples are great... My scenario is described in chapter 7
(http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/...ts.html#adssdm)
It explains how to make

Filesystem "somewhat" destroyed - need help for recovery/fixing
Hello
I think, I somewhat destroyed my btrfs filesystem on my Ubuntu 13.04 kernel
3.8.0-25-lowlatency system. It got destroyed, because the system was hanging
for some other reason and I had to remove power...
When I try to mount my filesystem (there''s only one, with a few
subfilesystems), the system crashes. Also btrfsck dies; always like this:
a@ask-home:~$ sudo

Hi!
I'm trying to use "Marco Polo Gro?er Reiseplaner 2005/2006" with
Wine 0.9.13 on Gentoo Linux. To use it, I ran travel\setup.exe

In the terminal window from which I started wine, I get:

Doing ZFS rollback with preserving later created clones/snapshot?
Hi.
Is it possible on Solaris 10 5/09, to rollback to a ZFS snapshot,
WITHOUT destroying later created clones or snapshots?
Example:

--($ ~)-- sudo zfs snapshot rpool/ROOT at 02
--($ ~)-- sudo zfs clone rpool/ROOT at 02 rpool/ROOT-02
--($ ~)-- LC_ALL=C sudo zfs rollback rpool/ROOT at 01

What to do for ACL support?
Hi!
I'm trying to setup samba 2.2.4 on MandrakeLinux 8.2. The server should
act as a file storage for about 25 Windows 2000 clients.
Setting up a "basic" server which just serves the files is easy.
However, I'd also like to support NT ACLs on the Samba server. Well,
what do I have to do, to get it to work?
I'm using the Mandrake RPM for 2.2.4, which has ACL support

Free space calculation gets it wrong
Hello!
Running Samba 3.x on HP-UX 11.00, Linux and Solaris.
I've got a problem with the free space calculation of Samba. The problem
is, that Samba only seems to return the free space available in the top
directory of a share and not the free space available in the current
directory. That's a problem for me, since I share a directory on the
server and then mount the actual

PDC login problem solved
Hi.
I've now "solved" the problem. If you remember, I was unable to login
from Windows 2000 to a Samba PDC.
To "solve" the problem, I changed the computer name in Windows 2000 and
then created a new machine account. First, it was "VIRTUAL-TEICH", and
now it is "vm-teich". However, this time I created the machine account
in samba in all lower case
