XP share not listed in Linneighborhood
I am unable to find my Windows XP share (winpro) in Linneighborhood
which runs on my desktop Kubuntu Linux box.
When I try to mount that Windows XP share I get the error message:

SMB connection failed

Okay, new question - dealing w/ logging in restrictions (controller?)
Hey all, so if you read my previous thing about nested routes - I''m
just not going to do with them anymore.
Anyway, so my controller has a before_filter on the edit action; which
checks to see if the current post''s user, is the same as the currently
logged in user, if true then they can edit, otherwise not.
def check_user
if current_user.login != @post.user.login

Okay, what gives? find_by_id is failing.
This has the look of a "just don''t quite get it yet" problem. I am
using the ActiveRecord.find_by_id method to identify the parent object
(Quiz) to tie to the child object (Question) at create time.
Here is the stdout log:

Okay one last question...
(for now, anyway :)
I have a panel, and I want to be able to adjust the size
programatically. I don''t have any sub windows, all I am doing
is drawing a bitmap into the DC.
I''ve tried set_size, but nothing seems to happen...
Do I need to go to all the bother of creating a sizer, blah, blah, blah,
or is there some kind of event I need to trigger to force a resize,
or...?

attaching printer w/user level sec; XP okay, 2k won't work
So I've spent a couple of hours on this and I think I've found the problem.
I have cups and samba running on the print/file server.
I have a 2k and and XP system as clients.
All are in the same workgroup.
I started with share-level security, and everything worked okay.
Then I decided to tighten it down a bit, and moved to user-level security.
XP could connect to both the printers and

Okay I'm stumped.
I have a very weird issue with isolinux.
I create disks with a bootsector, kernel etc.
The CD's boot fine on most machines, but on a significant number the bios just
completely ignores them. Yet these same bios's boot a number of linux CD's
all using isolinux.
Moreover a lot of time the same bios will fail with a CD, yet boot the same
iso if it's burned onto a DVD.
The only

Okay can somebody explain this...
Hi,
I got rid of the messages I was getting in the CDR (pbx.c: Cannot find
extension context 'default') by adding a blank 'default' context at the
front of my extensions.conf (I use the context 'extensions-home') this
also (well sort of ) fixed my problem with blind transfers. I can blind
transfer using '##' (set in features.conf) once but I cannot transfer a

"INTx fd" busy error on VM startup at boot, subsequent startup okay
Hey all,
I'm getting an error starting a libvirt managed qemu/kvm VM at physical
host boot time, but manually starting it afterwards works fine. This is
on a Ubuntu Wily i7-4790 box running Linux 4.2 and libvirt 1.2.16.
There is a legacy (5V) PCI card being passed through to the VM, the
error seems to relate to that.
The error that always appears at boot in

ImageMagick x86_64 update missing binaries (i386 is okay)
The recently released update to ImageMagick (6.0.7.1-14.x86_64) has a
problem on x86_64 -- it's missing /usr/bin/animate, /usr/bin/display, and
/usr/bin/import. The previous ImageMagick-6.0.7.1-12.x86_64.rpm is fine...

okay, working, but not quite pretty...
Hi all. I got my previous problem fixed. Effective uid and gid fix in
dovecot.conf file made it work. However, I'm still seeing this in
my /var/log/dovecot.conf
dovecot: 2006-04-13 21:09:00 Info: imap(chl at iaminla.com): Effective
uid=1000, gid=1000
The uid and gid *should* both be 1009, and I can't for the life of me
figure out how to configure that. I looked around the list and

smbclient ls error: NT_STATUS_PATH_NOT_COVERED (user permissions are okay)
Hi everyone:
I'll try to be both succinct and accurate here:
Attempting to get a directory listing from a DFS export fails using
"Samba 3.0", but works fine on windows (XP, 2K, NT4).
This happens via smbclient and via "smbmount"ed
directories. I had no problem joining this domain, and the user that
I am connecting as has permissions to open these folders (I checked

Win2K cannot retrieve print driver, XP is okay
Hi all,
I'm having trouble persuading Windows 2000 to find the print driver on
a CUPS/Samba 3.0.20 server. The whole system has been working
perfectly with Windows XP clients for the last couple of months, but we
have a few Windows 2000 PCs/servers that need to have the printers
installed, and when double-clicking on a shared printer the Win2K
machines are saying that the print server

File/directory renaming denied but write access is okay with Samba/LDAP PDC
Hello List,
i recently re-setup our Samba/LDAP PDC. I have the following problem
now: The shares "lehre" and "public" are writeable, but i cannot
rename files/folders on it from Windows (getting an access denied
message in Explorer) - however, my user can rename the files manually
by logging into the PDC with his account, so permissions seem to be
okay. These problems

Is it okay to rsync the same source to the same dest multiple times?
I'm doing a huge rsync from one net to another (about a terabyte) over
a dedicated DS-3. One rsync doesn't even come close to saturating the
line, especially with compression enabled. Is it okay to run multiple
rsyncs copying the same source to the same destination or do I have to
take care that they work on disjoint sections of the source directory
tree?
Thanks,

Admin stats... okay, what have people done?
As someone who still runs icecast1 as well as icecast2, I gotta admin I
love the status page of icecast1 over icecast2.
I realize the admin functions can't be called without authentication
(Without modifying the source code). Is there any way to get this data
from icecast easily?
I'm going to attempt again to generate a good looking quick overview page,

would enabling profiling at all times be okay?
Does anyone know if enabling profiling all the time is okay to do? I'm
worried that the accounting pieces might cause increased memory usage over
time or some other issues.
I was hoping to enable that to be able to track performance over time with our
monitoring software. My plan was to run gluster volume profile info every
couple of minutes and track the latency and bytes read/written for
