installing R on Red Hat 7.1
Hello,
I'm having trouble installing R from the binary to my red hat 7.1 box.
There are 2 rpm files on the web site:
R-base-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
R-recommended-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
When I did:
> rpm -ivh R-recommended-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
R-base = 1.5.0 is needed by R-recommended-1.5.0-1

SSH RPM for Red Hat 6.2 not useable
Hello,
I downloaded yesterday the Red Hat 6.2 RPMs for openssl
and openssh from one of the official mirrors.
I could install them on a stock Red Hat 6.2 box because
rpm -Uvh says (quoting from memory...):
cannot install because there is dependency conflict
between this rpm (openssh core) and the version of
rpm and rpmlib that you are using......
In other words, the rpm packages generated

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and CentOS 5 extras packages
Hi,
In the advent of RHEL5 and CentOS 5, I've been rebuilding the RPMforge
packages for EL5. You can find these at the usual location[*]. A few
points though:
+ Not all RPMforge packages are available at this time
+ If you find a package that you need and isn't there, please do look at
the buildlogs and send me instructions on how to fix this specific
build. (Saves us time

NFS error 101, again
Hi,
I've got another one... NFS error 101 with NFSROOT has been discussed a
lot, and hpa gave an answer to it which appears right. It's ENETUNREACH,
and I suspect my diskless box does not set its IP parameters right.
PXElinux is set up as follows:
label linvdr
kernel kernel-linvdr
append initrd=initrd-linvdr acpi=off root=/dev/nfs \

R-installation, linux red hat 7.1
Hi,
I have 1.3.0 version on my linux redhat. I wanted to upgrade to 1.4.1
using compiled rpm (R-base-1.4.1-1.i386.rpm and
R-recommended-1.4.1-1.i386.rpm ) but made a mistake and used "-i" option
to rpm command instead of upgrade U. It was complaining about already
having files with that name (from the previous version) in /usr/bin/R and
/usr/lib/R so i went ahead and removed those

Red Hat samba 2.2.5 to 2.2.7a Kablooey
Hi,
I need some help. Something rather disturbing had happened during an upgrade to 2.2.7a. It seems that the upgrade messed my current samba services, and placed files in other directories, yet the "path" was not updated. I would type "smbstatus" and get the older version, plus my "locks" directory was lost. The 2.2.7a upgraded installed yet left the older version

Ubuntu samba slower than red hat??
Hi--
About 10 days ago I switched from a Red Hat 9.0 machine
as my Samba server to Ubuntu. Ever since, things have
been slow.
How do I mean, slow?
1st clue: previously, when I saved docs in OOo Writer,
I would go ctrl-S and once every 4th or 5th time it
would say it couldn't create a backup; now it is
every time. So to save I have to go ctrl-S esc esc ctrl-S.
2nd clue: WinXP on login to

Upgrading from 2.2.3a to 2.2.7a concerns
All:
Before I actually go and take the plunge on performing this upgrade I would
like to find out if there are any caveats I should be aware of. I am using
RedHat 7.3 and have been using the pre-installed Samba since I began
upgrading our network to Samba about 4 months ago. I plan on using the
2.2.7a rpm from Samba.org and would like to know if any of you have done
this and whether or not

Installing R 3.4.0 on Red Hat 6
Hmmm. When I look at the contents of epel-release-latest-6.noarch.rpm, I
see:
/etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-EPEL-6
/etc/rpm/macros.ghc-srpm
/etc/yum.repos.d/epel-testing.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo
/usr/share/doc/epel-release-6
/usr/share/doc/epel-release-6/GPL
Do you have those .repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ ?

Red Hat configuration troubles
Greetings
I'm running Red Hat 6.2. Both smbd and nmbd are up
and running. I can see my Linux box from PCs in my
LAN. Problem is, I can't access them.
I tried the troubleshooting guide found at
http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/DIAGNOSIS.html,
and got as far as the second step. When I do
"smbclient -L myserver," I get the following error
message:

Smallest install?
I have a 500Mb ATA Flash drive in my machine. If I deselect everything at
install time (CentOS 5.0 - just for testing) it still requires 524Mb. Is
there any way of doing an even smaller install?
