zpool mirror (dumb question)
Hi there! I am new to the list, and to OpenSolaris, as well as ZPS. I am creating a zpool/zfs to use on my NAS server, and basically I want some redundancy for my files/media. What I am looking to do, is get a bunch of 2TB drives, and mount them mirrored, and in a zpool so that I don''t have to worry about running out of room. (I know, pretty typical I guess). My problem is, is that

parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
For those people experiencing Explorer.exe crashes when working with printers, please try this patch ftp.samba.org/pub/jerry/patches/post-2.2.5/parse_sec.patch It was a size vs. alignment bug when marshalling security descriptors for the PRINTER_INFO_2 structure. cheers, jerry --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hewlett-Packard

Printer Drv. Settings only with Manage Printer perm.?
Hi all, I found an old (Oct 9) posting (and no answers) titled "Print Driver Settings" from Michael Devogelaere regarding installing/using extra trays and duplex units using Win2000. We are using Samba 2.2.3a and HP and Tektronix printer drivers and experience the same difficulties - users cannot select/use the duplex unit without having "Manage Printer" permissions.

Implementation of TLS OCSP Stapling
Hi all, About a year ago, Torsten already asked for OCSP stapling (http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2015-April/100632.html). Unfortunately, there was no answer to his question. Now RFC 7633 ("TLS Feature Extension", https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7633, a.k.a. "Must Staple") has landed, revocation is getting serious! I personally would like to embed all my TLS

OCSP Stapling and Certificate Transparency
Hi, For CAs that do not include a signed certificate timestamp in their newly-issued certificates, does Dovecot support either OCSP stapling or the Certificate Transparency TLS extension? If the TLS extension is supported, how does the admin configure the timestamp for each certificate? I?m wondering if any MUAs will follow Google?s lead and insist on CT. Thank you! -Felipe Gasper

Duplex printer settings
Hello, I have a samba 2.2.6 print server running on Solaris 2.7. It has been working wonderfully for a long time. Now, I'm setting up the server to automatically download the printer drivers to the client PC. This also works great, except for the duplex option on my duplex printers. The correct options appear in "device settings" (such as "flip on long edge"), but do not

Printer settings on 2.2.5
Hello. We are using a Samba 2.2.5 as a PDC on a Debian GNU/Linux server. This server also handles a few printers, through LPRng. On the Unix side, no problem (duplex, simplex, short-duplex), everything works fine. I followed the instructions from the howto collection "Printing Support in Samba 2.2.x" to make these printers available on Samba. Most of the described procedure worked

Server-side printer settings?
Hi all! I have a situtation that I want to get happening: We have just installed a colour photocopier with duplexing at a client's office. We're looking to have four printers pointing at this one device, with the following settings (one for each printer): * Black and White * Black and White, Duplexed * Colour * Colour Duplexed My question is, can we have server-side settings for

Printer settings reset problems
Hi, I am working on a print server project where we have ran into a big showstopper. The print server works in a very mixed environment with clients running for example Linux, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, VMS, different Solaris versions and other Unix dialects. The server runs CUPS for printer spooling and Samba to serve the Windows machines. It's the Windows machines that has caused most

Can't print duplex
I am trying to switch over to the new "style" of printing, but when I do, I loose the ability to print duplex. I have two servers. The old one (spike) is setup as a file server, etc. and the print services date back to the early 2.0 days. It is currently running 2.2.2 with the original printer setup. The printing works ok with this server. People can print using features of the

HP vs. Brother Printers: Use with Centos/Fedora
We currently have a Brother MFC-5490CN. Printer firmware is dated June 1010. (yeah, 10 years old). Few years ago the brother software wouldn't work for printing under Fedora. No problem, can print under Windows 10. Then it stopped scanning. Could still print...under Windows. Now, to fix the scanning features working I installed updated drivers under Windows, now it scans like champ, but

Hi, We are using samba2.2.6pre2 and still have the problem with the printer duplex/tray settings like in samba2.2.5 (although the duplex/tray options are configured on samba, they are not correctly set to w2k clients) Does anybody know why? IAX2 Softphone Quality & Network Cards
We are in the process of an Asterisk call center deployment using IAX2 G711 ulaw softphones. Outbound sound quality is terrible. This week we rebuilt the entire LAN with Cisco 2950-EI switches and have employed QoS on the switches and router. Still sounds terrible. What we are now finding is that the network card in the PC may be the key to the problem. A Dell Optiplex P4 2.4GHz 512MB

Using working devmode from windows clients on samba server?
Samba 2.2.7a (built from samba RPM's) with LPRng print subsystem. I've been having troubles with some print drivers which fail to work properly when uploaded to the samba server whether devmode gets left as null or a default devmode is used. Some drivers do not leave you in a position where you can "tickle" the driver to generate a devmode with page orientation etc before
