Mandrake 9.1 Samba 3.0, windows2000 pro sp4.
I finally got Samba 3.0 working thanks to G?mes G?za. Now I am having

Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
Hello list,
Can someone tell me why I keep getting these kind of errors in the samba log
files?
I just went over from 2.2.5 to 3.0-alpha 18, I never had these errors in the
2.2.5 version.
Especially the rid [0] is a complete mistery to me since I have no account
defined in my ldap service that has rid 0.
Thank you very much for your help.
Eddie Lania.

Fw: Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
Hi again,
I just wanted to add this to make my information more complete:
The id primary group id of user "eddie" in the ldap tree is 500:201.
201 is the group "Domain Users"
But you have to know that user "eddie" also excists with id and gid 500:500
in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files.
Examining the log file below, this raises the following question to me:

Newbie to 3.0.1 and having problems
I have just upgraded from samba 2.2.7a to 3.0.1. For this upgrade I backed up my old
samba installation, installed the new configuration and copied over the contents of
the private directory which was secrets.tdb and smbpasswd. I ran testparm and
everything seemed fine so I run samba and H drives come back up perfectly.
I think I have 3 issues:

I noticed in /var/adm/messages that entries

trouble with groupmap
Samba Version 3.0.9-1.3E.2 installed on Vanilla installation of CentOS
Users who log in are unable to install printers via a script like they
do in all of our other domains. The drivers have been installed properly
an rpcclient enumdrivers confirms this. When the user logs in, they are
assigned guest privileges, and I believe that this is what's preventing
the print install.

Problem with RID,SID and usrmgr
Hello,
First of all, I would like to say that this is my third attempt to make
Samba working as PDC. On the very beginning I had a problem with machine
account, but after group mapping and cleaning group maps, I was able to
add it from command line - using smbpasswd (according to this point, I
would like to ask: "machine" unix group is only allowed for machines? Am

get_domain_user_groups: You should fix it, NT doesn't like that
Running Samba 3.0 on Linux 2.4.21 with acl patch. The NT box is an NT 4
SP 6 Server. The Samba is set up as a PDC.
I have a file F:\c.txt, which is owned by user usera with Special Access
(of Take Ownership, only) given to user userb. If I log in as userb and
try to do take ownership on that file we get the error "Access Denied"
from the GUI and immediately in the log, I see:

userGroupRid and groupmapping
Hi !
When I create a user with samba-ldap tools, the userRid is calculated if
the -x option is set.
The userGroupRid is calculated too. But is the groumapping is enabled, the
SambaPrimaryGroupSID not correspond with SambaSID of groupmapping
Example :
Groupe "Domain Users" :
gidNumber 100
displayName Domain Users
objectClass sambaGroupMapping

upgraded old smb system to new release with a few errors
I moved an old smb system (version 2) over to a completely new system
with version 3.0.7 running on FC2. I just copied the config files over
and then ran swat and adjusted any problems that I found. Then save the
swat config and started the smb server. Gosh be Good! It worked just fine.
But...
I stared noticing entries like these in the logs:
