Not able to login to Samba P
I believe that your issue is related to UNIX permissions. The location of your profiles directory must be set to allow all users R/W to it. Create a new group in your group file and add every user to it. Then change the ownership of the profiles directory. Also make sure that all of your users have R/W permissions on that directory. Windows 2k Home directories junk
Has anyone had the home directories of some Windows 2000 users become inundated with thousands (15k or so) of directories all of a sudden? This is of course a samba share on the samba PDC. It really renders the H:\ pretty useless. It also seems to occur only if you are logged onto a certain machine. Is anyone aware of any causes? Certain software packages that maybe create odd directories in a

FreeBSD 5.0 + ACLs
Hi all, I am playing with a test box at the moment running a Samba 2.2.7a domain on FreeBSD 5.0. I wish to enable ACLs, but I am not exactly sure what I am supposed to expect once they are enabled. I have created a UFS2 partition and enabled ACL support using tunefs. Since doing that, I have been able to connect to the Samba shares and modify ACLs, but so far the only things I have been able to

Change somebody else's domain password?
Hi, I am trying to find a way to change NT4 domain password from linux. smbpasswd works fine if you know user's old password but I am looking for a way to connect to PDC using all-mighty Administrator credentials and change other user's password. I have searched all over the web in vain. Have anybody done that? How? Maybe using tools other than Samba? Thanks a lot, Sergei

managing acl's via windows in samba 3.0 alpha 21
I've been trying to get the acl functionality (from windows) to work now for several days and have not found a solution. I've spent many hours Googling the web, and searching the samba list archives. If someone else has this working (in the 3.0 alpha code), I would appreciate seeing your config files, if you wouldn't mind. Goal: to be able to add user/group permissions to files

Mail.app message numbering for deleted messages
I'm having a strange problem that appeared when I upgraded from .99something to 1.0alpha3 and then disappeared for a while and then re-appeared when I upgraded to 1.0alpha5. I am using mbox and IMAP in Apple's Mail.app to read my mail. When I delete a message in Mail.app, the message gets marked as deleted in the spool and it disappears from the mail listing in Mail. However, the

Samba for Windows? :P
Hi, just wondering if anyone had ever though about making a port of Samba for windows. Now you may think "What's the point?" Well I'll tell you if you had as much control over smb as you have with Samba then you wouldn't need it for windows.. but you don't. Not unless you buy Windows 2000 Server or now 2003. By porting Samba to Windows you could take control

Re: vhost-net requested but could not be initialized
Currently in the VM XML, I am passing the following command line argument as a passthrough argument: -netdev type=tap,id=net1,script=no,downscript=no,ifname=port3,vhost=on -device virtio-net-pci,netdev=net1,mac=00:00:00:00:00:01,csum=off,gso=off,guest_tso4=off,guest_tso6=off,guest_ecn=off Is there another way to represent this in the XML file? maybe that may solve the problem. Passing llvm option -mem2reg to clang
I have my own llvm pass which requires mem2reg. It worked fine with opt. However, I was trying to make it work with clang as I needed it to run some spec cpu benchmarks. Is there any way that I can mention mem2reg (PromotePass) pass as a pre-requisite in my own pass's implementation?
