Change somebody else's domain password?
Hi, I am trying to find a way to change NT4 domain password from linux. smbpasswd works fine if you know user's old password but I am looking for a way to connect to PDC using all-mighty Administrator credentials and change other user's password. I have searched all over the web in vain. Have anybody done that? How? Maybe using tools other than Samba? Thanks a lot, Sergei

managing acl's via windows in samba 3.0 alpha 21
I've been trying to get the acl functionality (from windows) to work now for several days and have not found a solution. I've spent many hours Googling the web, and searching the samba list archives. If someone else has this working (in the 3.0 alpha code), I would appreciate seeing your config files, if you wouldn't mind. Goal: to be able to add user/group permissions to files

[LLVMdev] [llvm-commits] combined arm patch
I had to revert these changes. When I did a clean build I was inundated with errors. I'm not sure if I made the cut off time for the mirror. -- Jim On Dec 5, 2006, at 8:35 AM, Jim Laskey wrote: > This patch should be in today's mirror ~6am PST. > > Cheers, > > -- Jim > > On Dec 4, 2006, at 4:32 PM, Rafael EspĂndola wrote: > >> On 12/2/06, Jim Laskey

Is there a Samba4 list that I can use?
In order to get going with Samba4 I subscribed to this list. However, I'm getting inundated with postings that are, for the most part completely, irrelevant to my needs. I know they are all the same software, but Samba4 is almost a complete rewrite with completely different goals. Its very tough to filter through 99.9% of the messages just in hopes of finding one that applies to

Samba for Windows? :P
Hi, just wondering if anyone had ever though about making a port of Samba for windows. Now you may think "What's the point?" Well I'll tell you if you had as much control over smb as you have with Samba then you wouldn't need it for windows.. but you don't. Not unless you buy Windows 2000 Server or now 2003. By porting Samba to Windows you could take control

New files and directories
Hello, I have an annoying little issue. I am currently running Samba 2.2.5-10 as a Primary Domain Controller and have a number of shared drives with a variety of differing users and user rights all over the place. In my smb.conf file, I have the following share: [emergpo] path = /share/purchasing/emergpo force directory mode = 0770 create mode = 0770

Hexidecimal conversion
Help I can produce the hexidecimal equivalent of a decimal number but I am having a hard time reversing the operation. I'm good for hex representations to 159 and am close to extending to 2559. The archives are not clear on the existence of a function for this task. Is there one? Here is what I have got so far: #Good for hex values to "9F" as.decmode<-function(as.character(x)){

mvpart analyses with covariables
Hi all, I am fairly new to R and I am trying to run mvpart and create a MRT using explanatory variables and covariables. I've been following the procedures in Numerical Ecoogy with R. The command (no covariables) which works fine - ABUNDTMRT <- mvpart(abundance ~ .,factors,margin=0.08,cp=0,xv="1se",xval=nrow(abundance),xvmult=100,which=4) where abundance is 4th root

Time attributes in LDAP SAM
I am updateding my LDAP presentation (ftp://kalamazoolinux.org/pub/pdf/ldapv3.pdf) to include a section on the Samba 2.2.x LDAP backend. But I can't find any definititive documentation on the "time" attributes: pwdLastChange, pwdMustChange. Either how the time is encoded or exactly what they mean. I've seen post saying they are hexidecimal (although they don't look it)

FreeBSD 5.0 + ACLs
Hi all, I am playing with a test box at the moment running a Samba 2.2.7a domain on FreeBSD 5.0. I wish to enable ACLs, but I am not exactly sure what I am supposed to expect once they are enabled. I have created a UFS2 partition and enabled ACL support using tunefs. Since doing that, I have been able to connect to the Samba shares and modify ACLs, but so far the only things I have been able to

Inconsistent behavior between x86_64 and ppc64 when creating guests with NUMA node placement
Hello all, I was recently trying out NUMA placement for my guests on both x86_64 and ppc64 machines. When booting a guest on the x86_64 machine, the following specs were valid (obviously, just notable excepts from the xml): <memory unit='KiB'>8388608</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>8388608</currentMemory> <vcpu
