They repeatedly give me the same error i get when i try and access my samba server and that is "The account is not authorized to log in from this station" My computer is part of a domain if you need to know that. The log says alot of stuff, and i have no idea what any of it means, if you want to see one, just ask and i can send you alot. The other thing. how do i check if the user has permissions for the shared folders. their set to 777,

connection problem
I have two identical AIX v4.2 machines. One of them was vendor installed, and I installed the OS on the other one. I am successfully running Samba-1.9.18p4 on the vendor installed OS, but I cannot seem to get any Win95 clients to browse on my other machine (Explorer hangs on the Win95 client). I have performed all of the tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt. All of the tests work except for number 7. I can

Joining WinXp to Samba PDC
After trying to get WinXP (Pro) to try and find my domain so I can log on I've finally done it, but now when I try and join my WinXP client to the domain, windows asks me to enter the username and password of an account with permission to join the domain. Now which account would this be?? root doesn't work, neither do my other samba users. Do I have to create another user or something?

LDAP Filter Problem
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I am having trouble getting LDAP and samba working properly on my Debian Woody box. I am using OpenLDAP 2.0.27-3 and the unsable packaged Samba version 2.999+3.0 and am using the samba.schema for my LDAP database. Whenever I try to join the network using either W2K or smbclient the LDAP debug log shows that the following filter is being

Samba 3.0 + AD + OpenLDAP
Hi everyone! I've already deployed samba-2.2.7a-2 and enabled openLDAP support. I now have a machine configured as a domain controller authenticating all windows users via openLDAP. openLDAP is also authenticating all of our linux users. I would like to install Exchange2000 on a windows2000 machine so our windows users can do calendaring (sendmail already handles all of our email needs).

Can't Find Password
I am running Samba 3.0 HEAD with LDAP 2.0. I have ldapsam enabled buy when I try to log into my server from a W2K machine I get the following in my error log: sam_password_ok: NO NT password stored for user root. The log file shows that Samba successfully retrieved the root posixAccount record and the log displays some of the data (i.e. home directory) that is stored for root in LDAP. The

clearcase and samba
FYI:, I'm fairly new to samba (a couple of months now), and have experimented - unsuccessfully - with getting it to work with clearcase. Does anyone have a how-to, or a list of gotcha's for setting up clearcase with samba? Thanks in advance for any information you can send me. Ozzie,

How do I upgrade from 2.2.5 to 2.2.8
Samba List Serve Users: Is there a document or web link that follow that describes the steps to upgrade Samba from 2.2.5 to 2.2.8? The documentation on samba.org the I have read assumes that the install is a fresh install and not an upgrade. Thanks so much, Mark Roth Systems Engineer Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. which ACL attributes are supported by Samba?
I've tried to determine this empirically, but have run foul of config issues that won't be resolved in the immediate future. Basically, I know that Samba + ACL + an acl-aware filesystem will allow me to assign unix-style permissions to arbitrary groups of people for a given file. However, Windows has additional permissions: delete, take ownership, and, um, I think possibly one or two more.

Samba goes catatonic...?
Guten Tag! I have Samba 225 on a network of 75-100 daily users. System has (4) SCSI drives: (2) 18GB (RAID-1) and (2) 36GB (RAID-1) on two different SCSI channels. The system is running Red Hat 7.3 with updated and recompiled Samba 2.25 package. After one day of operation, the SMBD process is listed in "ps -A" ten to fifteen times, and some client PCs cannot connect. There

security = problems
Is there a way to have users of the samba server, but not add them by smbpasswd -a <UserID>? I want the samba server to be a domain member and the users to only authentic from the PDC. These are the steps that I have attempted: Users are in both the Windows domain and the UNIX NIS account 1. smbpasswd -j <Domain> -r PDC -U <admin> Joined the Domain 2. edited the

Problem loggin on to samba PDC
Hi all! How the heck do I log on to the samba domain? Every logon attempt is met with "The system cannot log you to to this domain because the system's computer accout in its primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect." A clients trust account was created using the authomatic adduser script and there are valid samba users . Connection using samba
