scandinavian letters or charset problem?
Hi! This teamware mailclient (teamware.com) that we use at the office has problems adding files as attachments from our Samba 3.0.2a share. The attachment file browser sees the files but fails to add them as attachments (with an error message: "valid.stf - file not found" regardless of the file name in question). I tracked this thing down to scandinavian letters (if your mail

Samba, Netatalk and non-ascii filenames?
Hi Everyone, I've got Samba 1.9.18p10 and Netatalk 1.4b2+asun2.1.1 both accessing the same directories so that Mac and Windows users can share files. It works great except for a few problems: The first has to do with deleting folders created by the other platform. I think this has to do with veto files, and haven't really treid too much, but am open to suggestions. The second which is my

Reading in a table with ISO-latin1 encoding in MacOS-X (Intel)
Dear colleages in R, I have earlier been working with R in Linux, where reading in a table containing Scandinavian letters ("?", "?", and "?") in the header as part of variable names has not caused any problem whatsoever. However, when trying to do the same in R running on new MacOS-X (with an Intel processor) with the same original text table does not seem to

sort charcters in W2K and NT
Hello. I have a problem using sort() in windows 2000 and windows NT 4.0, running R 1.8.0 on both. I want to sort a vector of characters names, where I have used "Scandinavian" letters, like '?', '?', and '?' (for those who cannot display these letters this question seems rather meaningless, i guess). Windows 2000 sorts the vector like I am used to from other

Windows 2000/2003 shares -> danish character problem
Hallo, I know this problem is marked as solved, but here is another solution, a solution which makes it possible still to use smbfs. I have been working on a project connecting Skolelinux ltsp-server to a windows 2000 server in norwegian secondary school and came across the same problem ( that is one of the teachers and his students in my school did first). Searching the net I found the

data frames with å, ä, and ö (=non-ASCII-characters) from windows to mac os x
Hi, I ran into this issue previously and managed to solve it, but I've forgotten how and am getting frustrated... I have a data frame (see below) with scandinavian characters in R (2.7.1) running on a Win Xp-computer. I save the data frame in an RData-file on a usb stick, and load() it in R (2.8.0) running on OS X 10.5. Now the name of the data frame and all factor labels with scandinavian

Rsync problem / Special characters
Hi, I have not esatblished a working rsync config on my server, but have found one major problem in which i hope there is a solution to. I'm based in Norway, with scandinavian clients. Of course we use several "special characters" in our keymap, which is not supported in US keyboards etc. I know there is a better word for this, unfortunatly i can't remeber it, so i hope you

support for multiple codepages at once?
I have a bunch of files on a Windows (98) machine which use different character sets. Some of the filenames have German characters in them, some French, Polish, others Scandinavian and even Korean. Everything except the Korean files seem to be correctly represented by the Windows box. I read the Samba documentation fairly thoroughly, and can see with a little foresight I can set Samba up to

labels in a boxplot
Dear R-listers, I have a little problem with a boxplot and I hope you can help me figuring it out. I'll try to make up some data to illustrate the issue. Sorry, if my procedures look naive, but these are my first steps in R. Any comments and/or suggestions are very welcome. let's create a vector var1: var1 <- rnorm(100) and 5 five logical vectors. In this case the vectors don't

mergeing a large number of large .csvs
Dear R help; I'm currently trying to combine a large number (about 30 x 30) of large .csvs together (each at least 10000 records). They are organized by plots, hence 30 X 30, with each group of csvs in a folder which corresponds to the plot. The unmerged csvs all have the same number of columns (5). The fifth column has a different name for each csv. The number of rows is different. The

Disallow certain characters in foldernames?
Is there a way to do this in dovecot? Similar to how you can When using Maildir and Thunderbird, if a user tries to a create folder named "test.1" or "test/1", dovecot will happily create a folder called "test", with a subfolder called "1". Worse, the top level folder "test" is greyed out, which is how Thunderbird displays a folder that can

special_use \Archive not working with some foldernames
Hello list, i use dovecot 2.2.18 compiled on my own and want to report an odd behaviour when using a folder for special_use \Archive. In my case it is not working when using some special foldernames (mbox). I compared to version 2.2.15 which i found pre-packaged on launchpad.net, same behaviour. All other special_use Folder work like expected. My situation: We authenticate users using
