printer suddenly unavailable
Hi there I have a pretty strange problem that pops up once in a while. Running samba 2.2.7a having installed a Samba machine as password server sharing user info via NIS I have a couple of printers running here at our place. Several of them are only accessible to a select group of people so I defined the concerned printers share as: [PrinterX] valid users = user1, user2, user3 .... ..... Things

Samba & Firewall
Hi all, I have a Samba Server on RH 7.1. It is placed in a DMZ (192.168.1.x) and I can connect through the firewall from the internal network (192.168.0.x) and use the defined shares. The only thing I would like, is that te smb server shows up in the network neighbourhood under windows, but it doesn't. How do I need to set up smb / win so that this happens ? -- Greetz Hans

Help on R performance using aov function
Hi, I?m trying to replace some SAS statistical functions by R (batch calling). But I?ve seen that calling R in a batch mode (under Unix) takes about 2or 3 times more than SAS software. So it?s a great problem of performance for me. Here is an extract of the calculation: stoutput<-file("res_oneWayAnova.dat","w"); cat("Param|F|Prob",file=stoutput,"\n");

simulate PXE boot from Etherboot ROM?
Hi, is there any way to simulate a PXE boot from an Etherboot ROM? Background: I am using PXES in a customer project. PXES supports bootsplash only via pxelinux. The customer machines only have old ISA network cards for which there appears to be no PXE boot rom so I have to use Etherboot. Maybe one could build an NBI image from pxelinux.0 somehow ??? Use a newer etherboot image as a second

Personal dovecot
Do you think it wold be worthwhile to add command line options to "deliver" and "imap" to make them ignore "system wide" configuration file and use ~/.dovecotrc instead? I would like to use "imap via fetchmail ssh plugin" and "deliver via ~/.forward (to get sieve support)". Such options would allow "cleaner" configuration. --

sound quality IAX client GSM to ALAW with oh323
Hello veryone, I have a strange problem. I have an asterisk (latest from CVS) with latest oh323 channel driver. I place calls with DIAX. The H323 gateways only support G711A De DIAX only supports GSM When I perform an inbound call: H323 -> asterisk -> DIAX :: sound is ok. When I perform an outbound call: DIAX -> Asterisk -> h323 :: sound is terrible and CPU load is 80% When I

missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
Hello dear R people, for my MSc thesis I need to program some functions, and some of them simply do not work. In the following example, I made sure both vectors have the same length (10), but R gives me the following error: Error in if (vector1[i] == vector2[j]) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed I googled for possible solutions, but I did not find a good explanation for this...

"negative length vectors are not allowed" in wilcox.exact() and perm.test()
Dear R friends, I want to compare two datasets and I get the message Error in .Call("cpermdist2", ma = as.integer(m), mb = as.integer(col), : negative length vectors are not allowed after specifying the exact test. I'm using the exactRankTests package. Do you suggest me using the coin library, or is there anything "wrong" with my data? Kind regards, David --

power regression: which package?
Dear R users and R friends, I have a little problem... I don't know anymore which package to use if I want to perform a power regression analysis. To be clear, I want to fit a regression model like this: fit <- ....(y ~ a * x ^ b + c) where a, b and c are coefficients of the model. The R Site does not have the answer I want... Thanks in advance and with kind regards, David
