Printing with CUPS & Samba...
I am trying to print from both a Win98 PC via Samba and a Red Hat 8.0 workstation to an HP 4 Plus printer that is connected to a Red Hat 8.0 server. I have managed to get the Win98 PC working OK, but am having difficulty with the RH8 workstation. I set the printer up using a browser with <Server>:631, calling it HP4Plus, and I can send a test print from the browser on the RH8 box via

Possible security hole in 2.2.0a?
Unauthorised connection attempts to a server running samba 2.2.0a are a daily occurrence but incorrect usernames/share names prevent accesses to shares and this is not normally anything to worry about. But looking through the smbd logs on this server I found one instance where someone apparently knew the 6 usernames listed in the smbpasswd file and tried to use those in turn to gain access. (This

OpenSSH v3.8p1 fails to interoperate for GSSAPI (Kerberos) and X-Windows
Versions: openssh-3.8p1-33, heimdal-0.6.1rc3-51, XFree86-4.3.99.902-40, tk-8.4.6-37, all from SuSE 9.1 (unhacked); back-version peers have openssh-3.5p1, XFree86-4.3.0-115, etc. from SuSE 8.2. Symptoms: 1. When the client and server versions are unequal, the Kerberos ticket is not accepted for authentication. All the clients have PreferredAuthentications gssapi-with-mic, gssapi, others. 2.

chron problem: extracting days and years
Hello r-help, I'm trying to split a character vector of dates of the form "dd-mmm-yy" into component days, months and years. But > library(chron) > testdate<-as.POSIXlt(strptime("17-Sep-98","%d-%b-%y")) > testdate [1] "1998-09-17" > months(testdate) [1] "September" # which is fine, but for days and years I get >

Printer driver downloads...?
I've been googling around for quite some time, and haven't managed to find anything useful. Is there some moderately up-to-date information on how to set up the automatic print-driver download in Samba 2.2.x? I know about the "old way" of doing things, but it doesn't seem to fly with Win2K drivers. Any and all help, and pointers to FD so I can RTFD (again, haven't had

Canonical Correlation Analysis
Dear Sir/Madam, This is Animesh working on Canonical Correlation Analysis ( CCA ) and I am using CCA package in R. I have a doubt and it may be very basic question. Hope someone will get back to me with answer. I am trying to follow the documentation of CCA but could not make out some of the stuffs. 1) I simulated some of the data sets and got the result. I want to

Any alternative to Single User Mode
I actually opened the Virtual Disk Image (.vdi) on http://www.vmxray.com/. I could see that despite my disk being of 100GB only ~65GB was being shown. All the stuff related ot the local user was not visible at all. After I restarted my VM, the OS gets stuck here ( http://i.stack.imgur.com/KVYxV.png). Even after trying the single user login it was stuck there. But the emergency mode worked alright.

CLI command 'database deltree' doesn't remove family with space in its name
While playing with DB function in Dialplan, I have added some garbage in AstDB. These are some family names with space in them. Any alternative to Single User Mode
Hi, I am working on Centos6.6 on a VirtualBox on Windows Host. Today I started to have booting issues in the OS. It won't get past the loading screen. I checked and found that the files related to the user "cloudera" on the system were not accessible. Only the files related to root were accessible. This is why I was am not able to do a single user login but an emergency login was

Can R fill in missing values?
Hi, I know this can be done in Stata (which is quite messy) but I wanted to know if it can be done in R. So lets say I have a merged data set (I used the merge function by date for the attached two files), where all the missing values are filled with NAs (which is what the all.x=TRUE does). Is there any way to replace those NAs with the value of the latest row that contains a value? For

more on date conversion differences in 2.2.1 vs 2.3.1
With dates I get different results with 2.2.1 and 2.3.1. From my somewhat naive point point of view, the 2.2.1 behaviour seems more sensible. Running the code below in 2.2.1: V1 2006-08-01 2006-08-01 1 1 With 2.3.1 I get: V1 1154354400 1154440800 1 1 # testdate.R t <- read.csv2('testdate.csv', header=FALSE) t$V1 <- as.POSIXct(t$V1)

Can't Load Text Files
Hi, I've completely forgotten how to do R, and it seems I can't even load simple files correctly. I have two tab deliminated text files (attached, these were test files of the larger data files I'm trying to work with) that I am trying to load into R so that I can merge them. They were originally excel files but I used "saved as" to reformat to text. I don't know if
