2 terabyte filesystem limitation on linux client
Hi all. I have recently introduced two 5.5TB XFS filesystems to our storage backend. I export the filesystem via samba 3.0.3 on Fedora core 2. Linux clients that mount the share show only 2TB available. Windows clients show the full capacity. Before I put these filesystems into production I'd like to find out if the reported filesystem size is going to cause a problem. Is SMB actually

EXT3 performance on Large (multi-TeraByte) RAID
Has anyone experienced a significant degradation in ext3 performance when using it on a Multi-TeraByte RAID? As part of an experimental setup, I hooked up three 300GB drives and made an EXT3 RAID5 out of them, using the entire space one each drive, and started throwing a large number of files in the size-range 3KB to 50 KB. Then, I deleted the raid, and created a new one, but this time, I used

plots: aspect ratio
After playing around I got everything to work. One problem was with the large pointsizes. I switched to small pointsizes and shrank the plot region. This shrank the gaps and tick lengths down to reasonable values. As for aspect ratio, I think the pty="s" did finally kick in somehow. In the old days this was not required; the dev.print width=, height= took care of that. Cheers, Bill

dovecot corrupted transaction log
Hi I came across this error which happend immedately after a mail delivery to the inbox. Should I look for the problem externally to dovecot (ie. file system, operating system) or within dovecot? I never saw this error before installing 2.2.1, with 2.2.2 I seemed to get even more of them so currently back on 2.2.1 Thanks John Jun 11 00:00:05 rosalia dovecot: imap(myemail at mydomain): Error:

[LLVMdev] Use perf tool for more accurate time measuring on Linux
Hi all, The LLVM benchmarking system produces very noisy results even on quiet machines. One of the sources of inaccuracy is the timing tool we are using. Because it is a user-space tool, the OS can context switch it and we will get an outlier result. Perf stat uses SW_TASK_CLOCK counter in kernel to measure time, therefore more accurate. It also does not get context switched. I've
