Winbind and wrong domain
Sorry to be a pest....but I worked on trying to figure this out all weekend....and I'm still at a loss.... Here is all the info collected to date (these are all copy/paste from emails I sent to the list late last week) I've been looking thru manpages and online for help..... I *think* I've got winbind mostly setup (somehow) but it seems to be using the wrong Domain. Some info: I

Ideas...
Hello, My company runs several Internet Cafes in Mexico, where bandwith is limited and very costly. We use Linux to do NAT and firewall stuff and at each location we have about 30-40 stations. I''d like to know if anyone out there has any suggestions about how to use CBQ to limit the bandwith at each station. We only have a 128k circuit. The problem I am having is that since I have that

I messed up winbind....but what is wrong?
I had posted about winbind picking the wrong domain to this list about a week ago and this was the problem I was still trying to solve when I must have messed something else up. SO! Winbind WAS working (even though it was picking the wrong domain) I re-ran smbpasswd -j LMC -r <our PDC> -U administrator I get prompted for the password, enter it and I am told that I joined the LMC

Creating html e-mails with embedded graphics
I am new to RoR and I have a new project for which I''d like to use it. I have created a short list of the important functionality I need and it seems like everything is covered except one thing: I need to generate and send mime-encoded e-mails with a plain text part, an HTML part with embedded graphics, and possibly an attachment. In the old days (up until last week) I would have

PDC and routing
I know this must have been answered 3 million times, but I can't find it. I need to have some windows 2000 machines on a different network connect to our Samba PDC. The few documents that I've read said that a Wins server will resolve the issue, but they don't explain any more than that. I have wins support = Yes in the smb.conf, and I have the IP of the samba server in the Wins of

Samba 2.2.8a file permissions not working
We have upgraded from Samba 2.2.7a to 2.2.8a. We have samba running our our two UNIX file servers, one is Solaris 8 and the other RedHat Linux 7.3. Samba was compiled as follows: configure --prefix=/opt/samba --with-acl-support --with-quotas Right now it doesn't looks like changing file/folder permissions are working from W2K. When we right click on a file/folder and go to the

[XCP] recompiling xapi rpm changes version and licensing details.
Hi there. I needed to recompile xapi to fix a bug that was resolved regarding vdi-create not setting the sharable flag. I used the sources provided in the source-1.iso from xen.org. Everything is good in this regard, and creating a vdi that has "sharable=true" is possible, but I had a problem that forced me to revert to the older copy of the xapi binary because my XCP box was now being

Hangup Issues on TDM40B FXO Australia
Afternoon all, After doing some test on my asterisk box I can successfully receive calls to my Asterisk PBX to a SIP phone from The Telstra PSTN network Dial out from a sip phone is also not an issue, all calls connect and terminate normally. If I call the Asterisk PBX say from PSTN in Zap1-1 and out through ZAP2-2 back to the PSTN (after entering the correct pin off course) the card does not

2.2.0 Alpha2 and print drivers
I began playing around with 2.2.0a2 yesterday. The text docs have instructions for setting up the "print$" share and installing drivers for client download. This involves browsing to the samba share from a W2K or NT server, accessing the "printers" folder, and right clicking on each printer to install drivers. I've managed to get W2K/NT and Win98/95 drivers

Jerry, Perhaps you could help me with a problem building a Samba print package. I've downloaded the drivers files I need from HP. Question - Does Samba Recognize non-Primary Group Memberships?
I thought this was true, but In troubleshooting a permissions related issue, I see evidence that it is not. In my previous post, I was asking for assistance in trying to figure out why I was unable to create files/folders over the network, but could so so locally. My Active Directory account is a member of group that have full control of a particular folder according to getfacl. I added that

Samba 2.2 alpha3 released
Hi all, I have just released the fourth alpha snapshot of what will become Samba 2.2.0. It's available from the usual ftp sites, in the alpha directory as : <ftp mirror>:/pub/samba/alpha/samba-2.2.0-alpha3.tar.gz If people could test this snapshot out and provide feedback about what is broken and let the lists know that would help. The problem acting as a PDC for

Printer shares will not work - 2.0.7
First allow me to issue this disclaimer... The following problem is most likely due to my own ignorance. Now on to the problem... I'm setting up some printer shares that allow automatic driver installation to Win 9x clients [printer$]. When we try to use these, the drivers install beautifully, but we get the following error message when we try to print: "There was an error writing to
