samba 2.2.5a
Hello
I saw that samba 2.2.5a is out. Whats the difference with 2.2.4? Is there
currently any problem with 2.2.4 or 2.2.5a? I want to uppgrade my server
from 2.2.3a so i want to know if there are any thing that i should be
prepared for.
Ive heard that 2.2.4 had some printing problems? Is this true?

Problem with 95/98 and Outlook....
I've got a problem where when we have to restart the samba server, if
everyone hasn't logged off, anyone running Outlook will have their files
corrupted. Using a standard NT file server, this doesn't occur.
Anyone have a clue as to a fix for this?
Thanks
BTW: Using Samba 2.2.7

%U bug
I have been unable to find any indication as to the scope of the %U bug. I
have been looking in the docs, etc., and there is only an indication that
there IS a bug, fixed in 2.2.7. Can anyone tell me what it is, or where to
read what it is? I couldn't find the SAMBA_2_2 CVS log as was suggested --
I don't use CVS.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have just compiled and linked Samba 2.2.7a
on a Solaris 8 server with the GCC 2.95.3
version compiler. I get the following compilation
warnings. Can i still use the software without a
expected crash?

ldap users would like to change their own (smb)passwords
Dear Samba list,
I am using samba with ldap. All works fine.
Now I want my users to change their own smbpasswd's.
That only works when :
domain admin groups = myusers
and
secrets.tdb is set to 660
beside this smb.conf must at least be readable by the myusers_group.
Otherwise I get this :
/usr/local/samba-2.2.7/bin/smbpasswd -L -a bert

valid users and groups with winbind
Hi,
Just starting on this list.
I have samba (2.2.5a) on Linux/s390 and winbind authenticating and
providing shares.
I add the global to smb.conf:
valid users = '@Domain Users'
After that, I can no longer get the share even though I am in the 'Domain
Users' group.
# id poklcc+mikem
uid=10001(POKLCC+mikem) gid=10000(POKLCC+Domain Users)
groups=10000(POKLCC+Domain Users)

pre-/postexec in printers-section
Hi,
after updating our printserver from Samba V2.0.6 to V2.2.7 I encountered the
following problem.
Samba does not execute the (root) pre- and postexec within the printers
section.
If you are using these command in another section everything works fine.
Does anybody know if these command are not supported in the printers section
anymore?
smb.conf:
[global]
...
load printers = yes

ACLs on client Samba machines with Samba PDC.
I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC
and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on
the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note
that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended
users/permissions that ACL support offers.) If I try, they just vanish
when I click "OK".
