find what I was looking for so I figured that I will post what my problem

I have Windows 2000 SP3 clients that are joined to a domain with the
samba server acting as PDC. I am using samba 2.2.7a compiled with ldapsam

Windows 98 cannot connect to Samba 3.6.23-45el6 after upgrade from 3.0.33-3.41.el5
Solved! That was painful.
First, Samba 3.6.23-45el6 on CentOS6 doesn't start nmbd when samba
starts. Those are different services now.
Make sure that's enabled and stars.
Also, add to the smb.conf
lanman auth = yes
client lanman auth = yes
client ntlmv2 auth = no ;client lanman auth son't work without
this. not sure why.
Restart samba and you must use smbpasswd -a

Puzzling
Dear List:
I have installed the lastest Samba 3.0 onto an AMD 2.6 GHz RedHat 9.0
system running mirrored SCSI drives. The system is multi homed as such:-
eth0 - 192.168.50.5
- 192.168.100.199
eth1 - public IP address
I connect from an XP Home box to a Samba share via the 192.168.1.0/24
subnet, mapped as Drive Z and performed the following file transfers.

Let me say first of all that I greatly appreciate and applaud the work
that you are doing. I am currently running Red Hat 8 and trying to
configure the latest Samba (3.0.5) release on my home network consisting
of two win2k machines (a desktop and laptop)and the Red Hat desktop
sharing a DSL connection via Netgear ethernet bridges and router. As

More LDAP samba 2.2.7a problems
Hey guys. I have been trying to get samba and LDAP with win2k SP3 clients
to work together and have just not be able to get it to work. I followed
the suggestion of adding a guest user to LDAP with an rid of 501, but it
hasn't help. Here is what happens. If a user logs in and they don't have
a profile the computer will save one to the server when they log out
without any problems.

smbpasswd -j joins wrong domain?
I am having a hell of a time getting a group of Samba servers working
together as a domain. My desired setup is to have one Samba PDC (LION)
in control of the ANIMALS domain and then have the other Samba file
server (HYDRA) join ANIMALS.
Simple enough. My smb.conf files are attached. I have added a HYDRA$
machine account to LION per the usual directions. I then follow the
simple directions

Network on one side is 10. and other it is 1. .
Now I want to see machines on one side from the other and vice
