7zip benchmark
Hi, I could try latest 7zip (4.57) on a triple boot machine (Debian SID i386, x86_64 and native Windows XP SP2), and found something surprising in the results : amd64 at 2400MHz linux32 -> 1814 linux64 -> 1946 win32 -> 2004 So performance is much better in Linux 64 bit than in 32 bit, while both are slower than native windows system. Is it normal, I mean does anyone else obtain

Problem browsing shares "element not found"
Good afternoon, I have a new Samba414 install on clean Ubuntu server 12.04. All working except I cannot browse into shares. I get "not accessible" and then "element not found". Using "net use" works fine - I can "browse" a share that has been attached to a drive letter but I cannot browse the UNC path. That is to say NET USE P: \\MYDOMAIN\public works,

In various newsgroups there have been many posting attempting to describe how to achieve this, but none of them is complete. Can syslinux be used to achieve this? What about memdisk? Thank you in advance. Fet

Query with special characters crashes under Windows XP
Hi, Index queries with special characters (e.g. German Umlauts but also other European ones) make the Ruby process run for quite a long time and crash finally. I''m using Rails on Windows XP with Ferret 0.11.4_mswin_32. I could isolate the problem in the following simple controller action (so there''s no web browser form field involved): def test index = Ferret::I.new index
