FAILED with error NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE
Hi there,
I'm working on a new print server to replace one that's pretty long in
the tooth.
I'm using standard packages from Ubuntu Hardy Heron which appears to be
Samba 3.0.28a. We use LDAP for the authentication backend. I seem to
have that configured properly as I get a ldap_connect_system: succesful
connection to the LDAP server in the log but every login fails with:

the owner of the profile is correct...
It works again when I re-image back to pre sp1
there is an event in the security log saying...

Ubuntu vs Mac OS X
Hi !
I have installed R-2.7.0 64-bits on a computer where the new Ubuntu
version (8.04) was installed. This computer is a 3.2 GHz Dual-core with
2 Gb of RAM.
To test how fast (I though !) this machine is, I compared two simple
matrix manipulations between Ubuntu and my laptop (a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz
with also 2 Gb of RAM under Mac OS X 10.5.2). By the way, I install the
normal version of R

Hi,
I'm trying to run samba 2.2.6 + OpenLDAP as user/group
database ( not /etc/passwd). nss_ldap+pam_ldap is installed and
working OK, as I can login using ssh, or trough
console with one of ldap user.
But trying to connect to samba, when samba is ran as
#samba -d 2 -i
I get:

Strange NT_STATUS_PASSWORD errors after upgrade to 3.0.26a
Hi,
I just upgraded one of our samba BDC's (with LDAP back end on
solaris 10) from 3.0.23c to
3.0.26a and can no longer mount shares.
The error message I'm seeing in the samba logs is
[2007/11/15 14:15:26, 1] auth/auth_sam.c:sam_account_ok(172)
sam_account_ok: Account for user 'dbb' password must change!.

Possible bug in 2.0.7?
Hi.
I'm setting up a Linux server (VA Linux version of Red Hat 6.2, kernel
2.2.14),
and I've installed Samba 2.0.7 from the rpm samba-2.0.7-20000425.i386.rpm,
packager John H Terpstra [Samba Team], build date Wed Apr 26 02:46:34 GMT

My smb.conf file, and a portion of the log file, are at the end of this
message.
I'm trying to replace a NetWare server, which co-exists with an

Password must change: 0
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a domain user in USRMGR.EXE. The samba account will
have its property "Password must change" set to 0. this results in the
user not being able to access shares if he has been never logged in
before. smbclient will return NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE after
logon. in USRMGR.EXE, it is impossible to uncheck the checkbox for

pwdLastSet, password required to change (samba vs MSAD)
Hi,
We are using keycloak with our samba-4.4.4 AD environment. (an ldaps
client application)
Keycloak is able to ask users to change their passwords, when the
checkbox "require password change upon next logon" is set in ADUC.
However, in our environment (samba-4.4.4) keycloak simply refuses the
logons when tht checkbox is set. ("bad username or password")

NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE looping
Hi,
We have an Ubuntu 10.10 server running Samba 3.5.4 with OpenLDAP 2.4.23
and we have a small problem where every time a user logs onto a workstation
they are asked to change their password. Once they enter a new password
and confirm it, it asks them again and again and again.
The only way to fix this (which isn't a fix) is to use the smbldap-passwd
tool to reset their password. But then

snow documentation comments
There are a few points I found unclear or unmentioned in the snow
documentation (mostly I looked at the cluster.html web page). I thought
I'd mention them here.
What is the start up environment for the children?

My best guess at the answer is in parentheses
Do they inherit shell variables? (no)
Do they inherit variables set in R or other

Multiple Imputation / Non Parametric Models / Combining Results
Dear R-Users,
The following question is more of general nature than a merely technical
one. Nevertheless I hope someone get me some answers.
I have been using the mice package to perform the multiple imputations. So
far, everything works fine with the standard regressions analysis.
However, I am wondering, if it is theoretically correct to perform
nonparametric models (GAM, spline

SAMBA 3.0.21b expired password issue for Solaris 9 - perhaps a bug in winbind or /etc/pam.conf misconfigure
All,
The SAMBA version 3.0.21b expired password pam_winbind.so section
perhaps might still have an issue. It seems to just be in some kind of
loop and
never completes the section in pam_winbind.c of pam_sm_chauthtok.

disabling offline caching from samba
I'm preparing to roll out a bunch of win XP clients and and am running
down all the quirks
that come up in the application log on my test box.
1) AutoEnrollement fails - samba is not an active directory so this
makes sense
it must be disabled by editing the group policy
with gpedit.msc
