SAMBA doesn't like me anymore :(
Hi All,
Okay, SAMBA officially doesn't like me or something.
Here's the poop:
- Brand-new FreeBSD 4.7 box
- SAMBA 2.2.6pre2 (built from the ports tree)
- I have dual NICs, one on 192.168.1 (students) the other on 192.168.2 (staff)
- I need two operational workgroups "STUDENTS" & "STAFF" each tied to their
own interface.
- This machine needs to do all the

multiple domains?
Hi!
Just another question...
I've an Samba-PDC (2.2.5 --with-ldapsam) - and of course a BDC (at least I hope
that I get this running soon) with an LDAP-backend (users/machins/groups). If I
want to create something like a "Subdomain" with some - but not all - of the
LDAP-users, can this be done, and if how? for example if we have a domain EDU

browsing network neighborhood without broadcasting?
Hi,
Is it possible to browse the network neighborhood without sending netbios
packets to the broadcast address? I would imagine it could be done by
manually specifying a central wins server on the lan -- is that the case?
Specifically my concern is that dialup users (without an access filter to
restrict broadcasts) will flood the network with broadcasts, affecting
latency sensitive applications.

Cleaning up Network Neighborhood
I couldn't find anything like this in the archives, although it must be
there. We are running Samba 2.0.7 on RedHat Linux 6.0 using Windows 95
clients.
Our Network Neighborhood is filled with workgroups that no longer
exist. In some cases, someone connected with a laptop that was in a
certain workgroup and it was added to the list of our workgroups. Even
that that person has been gone for

bit/bytes <= broadcasting : the state of art ?
Hi,
Our webradio (Let's Go Zik - http://www.letsgozik.com) works with
donation and partenship. I think it's the only way to keep a webradio
alive for the moment... We are making our radio in a associative way...
It's quite hard to "find" listeners. Currently we are nearly
broadcasting for 60 simultaneous listeners (and approx. 5000 differents
listeners per months)...

Question over broadcasting using icecast server
Hallo everyone in the Icecast project.
First of all i want to apologize in case this message should not be in
this list but i believe this is the place to answer my question.
I know only a little about icecast server. I would like to build up a
live radio station. The concept is something like : the server is set up
in some place and all producers broadcast themselves from their place,

tools for broadcasting
Hi all, I'm sending this to both lists because I want to know what both
sides of the conversation think about this. For those of you on the icecast
list, can I have a recommendation on the right tool to broadcast with? If
you like, I'll send you my prerecorded shows, just tell me what the best way
to send those is. For the audacity list now, would it be possible to develop
a broadcasting

Could you show us your entry in ups.conf for the dummy ups ?
If you have an entry "port = file" in that section of ups.conf, could you show
us the contents of "file" ?

Need Samba4 to resolve DNS request of another network
Dear all,
i am working to deploy Samba4 on our main and remote sites.
Each DCs are seperate by a router. So they only have one network interface
card.
Samba 4 on remote site should join existing Active Directory domain that is
implemented on the main site.
As we do not belong to the same network, i am having dns request trouble
while i will try to join to the Domain.

RE: Audio broadcasting... (fwd)
Hi vorbis dudes,
I've been trying to encourage vorbis use for a somewhat well known person
who is doing a weekly internet "radio" program. I guess they are finding
out that WMA isnt too cross platform :-)
Was wondering if someone could help out with these questions...
The encoding platform is windows...
Is vorbis suitable for 33.6k/56k streaming yet?
Would be a good opportunity

Bogus workgroups in network neighborhood?
Hi there,
In our Network Neighborhood I can see items for old workgroups and domains
that no longer exist.
For example, in /var/log/messages I see:
Apr 13 04:02:04 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^ICH(1) current master browser = CH1
Apr 13 04:02:04 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IBCH(7) current master browser = FIRE997
Apr 13 04:02:05 ch1 nmbd[9227]: ^IWORKGROUP(5) current master browser = SAFETYLAPTOP

Help: Virtual Network of Domu's
Basically what I am trying to attempt here is to have multiple vm''s in a private network that is seperate from any of the physical networking devices. So far all I have really been able to do is connect the vm''s to an etherstub, but cannot get them to communicate with eachother. I have been using this (http://blogs.sun.com/droux/entry/private_virtual_networks_for_solaris) as a
