I would like to add a Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 client machine to the network, but don't know how to turn off the password encryption. I am currently editing the registry on the Win98 machines. Hi, We have a samba server 2.2.4 in a RH 6.2 Linux system. I should say that the samba server is working well except for a win2000 workstation. For this win2000, the user can mount network drive to the samba server, e.g. H: to \\sambaserver\username, it asks the password, if entered correctly. it is connected. No problem at all. There have been several postings about this phenomenon and we too fell into it when we introduced Win98 clients onto the network. Somewhere on the web I found the answer: By default Win98 sends passwords to a server encrypted, and by default SAMBA compiles with encrypted passwords switched off. Therefore the password one types in from a Win98 client is received by SAMBA in an encrypted form.

i'm looking for an answer to the problem WIN98/samba-connection. It shows the same failure as shown by WinNT unless the change of Registry to EnablePlainPasswd.
