"PANIC: failed to set gid" on Mac OS X Server 10.2.1
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm running Mac OS X Server 10.2.1, with the built-in Samba stuff turned off, and a separate install of 2.2.6 in /usr/local/samba. I have Samba configured as a PDC (which is why I can't use the built-in version) for the domain "TAMU_FOOD". Under MOSXS 10.1.x, I was running 2.2.5 the same way, and everything worked perfectly. I

Re: samba Digest, Vol 76, Issue 10
Dear List, I wonder if somebody has a correctly working SMB service in Mac OS X Server 10.5.x. I've got here lots of "This process has forked.." and "Broken Pipe" errors as described in this post: http://www.afp548.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=22295 Would be nice if a Samba-guru could point us to the right direction. Thanks, Alex

Problems adding Win clients to domain
I'm not able to add Win clients to my domain anymore. I receive an error on the PC (2000 or XP): "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "[DOMAIN]": Logon failure: unknown user name or password." But I am able to log on to the server when accessing shares and printers. This error message only appears when joining the domain. And on the Mac OS X

W2K termserver & MOSXS PDC?
Is anyone else having problems with W2K terminal services and a Samba PDC? I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on Mac OS X Server 10.1.2, set up as a PDC per the HOWTO instructions. I have a Windows 2000 Server running terminal services and Citrix Metaframe, which I've joined to the domain. I have a set of scripts that synchronize NetInfo passwords and smbpasswd passwords. Everyone can logon,

unmarshall samr_q_set_username
Hello all, I again am having a problem I stated a while ago. The machine is a mac osx server. I am limited samba 2.2.3 I believe. It was working great, the I change a netlogon script, which should make no difference. then I added a couple of shares to smb.conf. my smb.conf is designed after the one on afp548.com to make a mac into a win pdc. only the shares and names have changed really. the

Installing samba 2.2.6 on Mac OS 10.2.x
I am trying to install Samba 2.2.6 over the default installation of samba 2.2.3a that ships with Mac OS 10.2.1. I have tried to install this with the configure line from apple's guide to compiling samba http://www.opensource.apple.com/projects/documentation/ howto/html/osxsmb.html, but this was with a previous version of os 10. The configure line reads, ./configure --with-syslog

RoR on Jaguar anyone?
I installed RoR on my Mac with Tiger10.4. Everything seems to work fine. I installed it on my other mac using 10.3 and at first it worked fine, but when I started using apps with a database, sometimes the server crashes on certain pages. I''ve been trying to locate the source of the problem, but the crashes seem pretty random. I''m wondering if this has anything to do with the

How to compile SSH on Jaguar (Mac OS X), technical question
Thanks to all the help I got in writing my HOW TO, im am getting closer to isuue it. I have just seen a file called: /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/sshHelper I wonder what will break, if I disable Apples own OpenSSH implementation. Would FileSharing not work anymore? Any workarounds known? Thanks for help, Robert Welz

Jaguar Samba Servers etc.
I suppose this has already been asked and someone is going to tell me what chapter of the HOWTO to read but has anyone configured a Linux server to link up Windows whatever(say ME) and Mac OS X. Is this the best(highest speed and cheapest we are talking small non-profit.org here) way to do it? That is have a Linux machine doing everything a server does-this way dont have to waste G4 on server

Samba 3 and Mac OS X Jaguar to authenticate AD2003 users
Hi all My network is splitted in two parts: windows and macintosh, but all the usernames/password are on a win2003 server (with active directory, of course). I'd jusk like to allow authentication on both platforms with a single username, stored in AD. I read somewhere that OS X Server 10.3 has Samba 3 as a default package installed, but I can't unfortunately upgrade the OS, so I need some

R 1.5.0 on Jaguar?
It seems that someone was having trouble compiling R under Mac OS X 10.2, but I'm wondering if anyone is running the version available from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/math_science/rformacintosh.html under OS X 10.2. This is important because I'm about to take delivery of a new Power Mac running 10.2! John Shonder Oak Ridge National Laboratory

[LLVMdev] Any passes that work on extended basic blocks?
As far as I know, there is none. Pretty much every analysis or transform on EBBs can be extended to work on the dominator tree, which is what LLVM prefers. rsync HFS+ -> UFS2
Hi, This is my first post to this list. I have been backing up some files with rsync from My Mac OS X 10.4.7 machine, which uses HFS+ filesystem to a FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE machine, which uses UFS2 filesystem. They go across a 100-base-T lan, which has little or no traffic on it. On my Mac, I mount the nfs exported volume on the FreeBSD machine with: $ mount -t nfs moe:/backup

Groups not showing in Win2K Control Panel "Users and Passwords"
Leopard Server 10.5.4, Samba Version 3.0.25b-apple I am attempting to do something similar to that described in the Samba HOWTO and Reference Guide on page 157 Section 11.4.3. I have configured an "Admins" group on the server and would like to tell the local workstation to treat users in that group as Administrators. This used to work. "net groupmap list" shows that

Re: [PATCH nbdkit] server/public.c: Uninline nbdkit_strdup_intern to avoid compiler warning.
A simple reproducer is: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdint.h> #include <string.h> const char * copyn (const char *str, size_t n) { return strndup (str, n); } const char * copy (const char *str) { return copyn (str, SIZE_MAX); }
