Samba + LDAP + Password Expiry = Almost working...
I've got a Samba 2.2.7a domain with an LDAP backend. It's been working for nearly 3 months now without much bother. By the way: Great work and thanks for all of the effort! I have been missing one minor thing from the setup since I moved away from NT 4: Password Expiration. In the past I have posted questions about this on the list and I've gotten two answers: "Wait for

password aging
What are my options for implementing password aging using samba as my PDC ? I can set the users Linux password to expire, but it doesn't seem to propagate to their samba passwords. I absolutely need this functionality. Is OpenLDAP the answer? Joseph Morin

nt/2000 password has expired
Hi, I have setup samba on redhat 7.3 and configured it as a windows 2000 Primary Domain Controller. Everything works fine, however, everytime that Windows NT or 2000 clients log onto the domain they get a message stating that their password has expired and asking them if they want to change it. It doesn't matter if you answer Yes and change it or answer No and just continue on, the message

samba-ldap and password expiration
Hello every body, i am using samba (2.2.8a) with ldap support. In the samba.schema, there are special attributes relatives to the user passord: pwdMustChange, pwdCanChange, kickoffTime, logoffTime, logonTime and pwdLastSet. All the samba's documentations i can found described those attributes as "currently unused", execpt the last one that represent the time modification since 1970.

Suggestion: Disable PrivilegeSepartion by default
PrivilegeSeparation seems to be a valuable option, however at its current maturity level it is the cause of several problems. Just to name a few: - Incompatible with BSM auditing on Solaris - Incompatible with PAM password aging (for this reason??? the code to handle password expiration has been disabled without ANY notice) - Causes core dumps on HP-UX I think PrivilegeSeparation should be

Samba 2.2.3a and password expiration?
One of my users complained that his Win2kSP2 complains that his password Is going to expire in 8 days. A while ago we changed from Win2k domain to a Samba 2.2.3a controlled domain. How do I disable the password expiration? I read the man pages and searched Google but couldn't find any hints about the issue. It almos seems like this expiration thing should not be happening at all...?

hdt-project.org no IP?
Unable to determine IP address from host name "www.hdt-project.org" Getting this today? Not sure what issue is? I paid for the renewal back in 08/04/2016 and and in 2015, so the domain should be current? But the whois seems to show it is expired? Went to the gandi site, and it doesn't show a renewal option or anything? whois hdt-project.org [Querying

PAM and passwd age warnings again.
Hi all, This is a patch against 4.2p1 (compiling for a Linux --- an old, highly customized 7.2 to be specific). When I compiled it from your original source, installed it, and turned on PAM (for passwd aging), I couldn't get the passwd expiration warnings as specified in /etc/shadow to work at all (the message that is supposed to warn you as you're logging in that your passwd will expire

List of Expired Accounts?
Hi All, Is there a built-in command to get a list of all expired accounts, or output a list of all users and expiration date? All the scripts I find seem to be PowerShell scripts that relay on some "Web Service" that I don't have or do one user at at time. Or if anyone has a script they are willing to share, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm primarily looking for a way to

password aging and account lock checks
I'm looking at the password aging and account lock checks in auth.c:allowed_user(), and specifically their behaviour on HP-UX. First, should this code be ifdef'd away if we're using PAM? Next: /* Check account expiry */ if ((spw->sp_expire > 0) && (days > spw->sp_expire)) return 0; If I lock an account by entering too many incorrect passwords, sp_expire

Rails 4: Session Expiry?
I''ve been Googling this question for the past few hours, and I think it''s time I simply ask this question myself. I just made the switch from Rails 3.2 to Rails 4. I''m trying to make sure I''m as up-to-speed as possible on security issues, and I''m concerned about sessions right now. It looks like Rails 4 has moved away from supporting really

sambaPwdMustChange attribute didn't get updated (3.0.27a)
Hi there, i got into some trouble after updating my samba installation to 3.0.27a. My installation uses Samba-3.0.27a,OpenLDAP-2.2.13,smbldap-tools-0.9.2 as a PDC NT4-domain.Originally I used the installation-guide from smbldap-tools and everything worked fine. I also limited the access to LDAP as told in the installation-guide with no problems. After updating to 3.0.27a i realized that when

from the Agile Book, i see i can set the absolute session expiry time via: ActionController::CGIRequest::DEFAULT_SESSION_OPTIONS[:session_expires] however, I don''t see anything about what the actual default setting is when a session is created. also, is there a way to set the expiration to happen when the browser is closed? in PHP, this can be accomplished using
