roaming profiles in Samba 2.2 vs 3
Hi,
Below is a snippet of my .conf file that worked in 2.2.7a;
[netlogon]
comment = network logon service
path = \\stuff\people\netlogon
read only = no
browseable = no
guest ok = yes
[profile]
comment = user profiles
path = \\stuff\people\%U
writeable = yes
browseable = no
Using v3.0 during a logon session from a 2K ws I get;
Windows cannot create profile directory \\%

This is what i've done to disable roaming profiles:
In smb.conf, i've set the following two entries to blank:
logon home =
logon path =
Now, i've used the idealx scripts to add users, groups as

NT profiles on samba server
Hi, there,
I put roaming profiles for NT4 users on samba server.
In "Domain User Manager", I set "User profile Path" \\abel\profile\%U.pds,
here abel is samba server.
It works well, but everyday several users complain. Sometime, they cannot login because of
roaming profiles. Sometimes, some users cannot run VC or VB.
Sometime, I only need to remove ntuser.dat on samba

Roaming profiles - How to turn them off?
Is there anything simple to turn them off? Normally I don't mind roaming profiles, but considering how large mine have a tendency to get, I'm not waiting an hour (exaggerated, but close enough) to log in. So, just wondering if there's anything simple to turn them off. I haven't been able to find anything looking through the various texts I've been reading. Now that I've

Roaming Profiles not updating.
I'm finding our employees' roaming profiles are not being updated. They were initially created correctly, they copy down onto a new machine, but updates are not put back onto the server. I've also noticed that smbstatus does not show any open dat files, such as ntuser.dat. I would have assumed that these files would have been held open while the client was connected.

help with roaming profile
I've got a problem loading my roaming profile:
client - win2k
domain controllers - winnt server
profile server - samba 2.0.3
I can log in OK, and the PDC tells the client go attach \\server\userid as
my H: drive. That works, thus samba and the domain controller are properly
exchanging info.
the problem happens right at login though: i can't download my profile.

Roaming Profiles with Samba PDC
I have been working on this problem for quite some time now and have not been able to find the solution.
I have Samba running on Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) as a primary domain controller. From my Windows 2000 desktop I am able to browse that Linux server with Windows Explorer.
My biggest problem is trying to log in to that domain. Under Windows 2000 I am able to join the domain (sjmlinux) but

Turning Off Roaming Profiles? (resend)
Sigh, here is me, trying to make a decent first impression of myself by
providing as much information as I could, and then Outlook Expresses 'Send
message later' option does something I didn't expect it to. So, here is the
full message.
Basically, as the subject says, I've found heaps of information on turning
them on, but I don't particularly want them as my profile is quite

Roaming Profiles with win 98 - Doesn't work.
I would like to know if anybody on this list has managed to have a network
of 98 clients running off a samba server, and had roaming profiles, i.e.
people's settings follow them from machine to machine. I have done
everything I find in the guides, and I have no idea why the machines create
new local profiles. I've searched the net for documentation, example
websites, etc, but it seems the

PDC: client has "profile.pds" trouble
Hello list.
I just installed and configured my first Samba-3 PDC and I succeeded
immediately with the "join" operation with a Win2k SP4 client.
As I afterwards rebooted and tried to logon with the domain user, both
root and regular user, I got an error messagge telling me that it was
unable to create \\servername\root\profile.pds.
In fact, my /home/profiles directory remains empty (no

Roaming Profiles - delete profile when logging off
PDC : RedHat 7.2 // Samba 2.2.4 RedHat rpm
Clients : W2K SP1
Does anybody know how to get rid of the cached
local profiles when logging off? Since we use
FAT32 every user has access to other local replicated
profiles.
Furthermore sometimes the logon to the domain
doesn?t work the first time after logon after a cold start.
W2k claims it can not replicate/copy some files from
the users profile and

[PATCH v5 virtio 04/11] pds_vdpa: move enum from common to adminq header
The pds_core_logical_qtype enum and IFNAMSIZ are not needed
in the common PDS header, only needed when working with the
adminq, so move them to the adminq header.
Note: This patch might conflict with pds_vfio patches that are
in review, depending on which patchset gets pulled first.

multiple smbd/nmbd on one machine
Hi everybody,
hope my question is not misplaced :)
I have an HA-Cluster (RHEL 4 update 3, Veritas Storage-Foundation
4.1, samba Version 3.0.10-1.4E.9) an have to run 3 different smbd/
nmbd on one machine.
So my smb.conf looks different for each "service", and is also stored
in a separate folder.
(Structure is:
/home/smb/domain/cfg/ ... #config for domain-controlling

Keeping local Profiles in WinNT and W2K
Yesterday I moved my LAN domain from a W2K server to Samba and I have
problems logging on
to my WinNT 4 machine using local profiles.
My boss's computer is a freshly installed W2K and it had no problem at
all with the change.
My computer is a WinNT4 SP 6 and when I tried to log on with my user it
said it couldnt find the profile
and logged me off immediately. I used to have a roaming
