Bullet proof cron job???
I have a cron job that runs once a day. There are times when it runs that
it disrupts other things on the computer, so I want to kill it. Under
Mandriva I had no problems killing the process, and that was the end of
that. Under Centos I cannot kill it with a sig 15 or a sig 9. Tonight the
process would have trashed hours of work, so after spending two minutes as
root trying to kill the

Bullet-proof System
I want to provide VoIP hosting service to 2-10+ non-profit organizations we
grant services too, and possibly some small businesses. The server
environment we're looking at starting out on (systems previously used for
Web development, so I have these at a very low cost over the next 18
months), is at a hosting facility providing standard dedicated server
features (generator backup, 24/7 call

Bullet-proof FXO?
Been using a few different FXO interfaces (X100P, Voicetronix, and
SPA-3000) at a couple sites and they've all run into nasty issues at
times. I'm looking at moving one of my offices and am in the market for
a solution for connecting 4 FXOs. I got excited about recent offerings
from Digium and Sangoma in the way of new cards but I hear they're
causing troubles for more than a few.

How to cleanly remove a DC from Samba domain?
I used Apache Directory Studio to remove the "RID Set" node and after that a simple "samba-tool computer delete DC2" worked just fine.
Perhaps the version of Samba in TurnKey Linux V16.1 has a bug (4.9.5-Debian)? Likely demotion should remove leaf nodes from domain controllers as part of the process.
I have now recreated DC2 using TurnKey Linux V17.1 (4.17.6-Debian) and so

Turnkey Samba 4 Solutions?
H - I'm a Resara Server user - Resara Server was a turnkey Samba 4 system.
I have been lurking on this list, trying to decide what way to go for the
future. I've seen some post regarding moving from Resara, but I'm not sure
if I want to "get my hands dirty" - I've enjoyed the simplicity of Resara.
Are there any other turnkey Samba solutions? Or simple cookbook solutions?

Samba as an active directory
Dear,
After a few attempts I now have my first Samba installed and running as active directory (on Debian-Turnkey)
Topics I struggle with are not Samba itself, yet.
I seek help to clarify wat is failing, what I did wrong or did not do yet.
1. Joining the domain: fails to resolve SRV type record for \_ldap.\_tcp.dc.\_msdcs.<domain> (typos here are mine, correct on machine)
2. Fail of 1 is

virt-v2v and import of Debian OVAs
Hi
Is virt-v2v able to import a debian guest from an OVA archive ?
According to the "true" in convert_linux.ml, I would have said yes

Turnkey alternatives to fonality or switchvox?
Hey all,
First-time poster and been following the list for some time. Great
postings, all...
Currently we're implementing the voipconnection vs-1 for a customer.
It's a decent device, and the included admin interface leaves a lot to
be desired... The idea of the storing settings compact flash is nice,
although sometimes they choose not to stick. All in all, we're thinking

Fully-Virtualized XEN domU not Booting over iSCSI
Hello,
I am currently trying to move my VMs from running on local host storage to
a shared storage (trying out iSCSI) but I am
facing a bit of a booting dilemma.
The domUs are a mix of paravirtualized and fully-virtualized VMs. They all
boot and run like clockwork when on local
storage.
The paravirtualized domUs appear not to have a problem when I relocate and
boot them from the shared storage

How to debug Ubuntu 8.04 LTS guest crash during install?
Hello:
I am using kvm on a CentOS 5.4 server.
I am trying to install the TunkeyLinux Core appliance
found here: http://www.turnkeylinux.org/core
I downloaded the ISO file from the web site.
Then, I used this command to intall it:
virt-install -n tkl-core -r 512 --vcpus=1 --check-cpu --os-type=linux
--os-variant=ubuntuhardy -v --accelerate
-c /tmp/turnkey-core-2009.10-hardy-x86.iso

Samba and LDAP
Hi! I'm trying to install an ejabberd server on my network. Ejabberd supports LDAP - but when I tried to get it to work, it opened a whole can of worms.
Basically where I'm at now, if I use ldapseaerch to try and search for, say, a username - I get NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE - so my question is, does samba have an ldap server build in, or do I need OpenLDAP?

Replace primary DC
Following this thread:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2025-April/251400.html
We currently have 3 Samba (dc2, dc3, dc4) currently installed as
secondaries for dc1, they are installed from debian 12 backports while
dc1 is from a Turnkey Linux using an old version of samba, webmin,
etc...
I'm thinking about reinstalling to homogenize the infra. Is this the
right way to do it:

Large issue - having trouble diagnosing.
Hello,
I am having a lot of trouble with my deployment of Asterisk. I am running
the PBX-In-a-flash turnkey of Asterisk and ever since deployment I have had
many different problems. I have managed to get all issues sorted out as I go
along, until this one that randomly began last week.
We are using Grandstream GXP 2000 Handsets in the office, and at TE110P card
to interface to our ISDN OnRamp10

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a
button and you're live.
It accepts any Debian

Install problems (group permissions) with nut 2.7.2
Ok, so please correct me if I?m wrong?.
The quickest way to get my UPS running with nut (as the current release exists) is to either:
1) Add my vendor and device ID to the openups_usb_device_table OR
2) Create my own driver file, and then add that driver to the usbhid-ups subdriver_list
And then recompile/install.
Obviously #1 will be easier at this point, but I understand that it
