WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi, Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with winbind. For me the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has a realy good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions from NT/W2k PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS. Mayby the ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support. I have had

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication
Setup: Suse 7.2, Samba 2.2.6 Win 2K PDC Project: I would like to use winbind to authenticate users that do not have local accounts on the linux machine for access to various file and print shares. I have gotten winbind to successfully grab the user and groups from the NT box (verified by getent passwd). However, I have had little luck obtaining the permission based file share that I would

ACLs with samba
Hi- I am experiencing some odd behavior with ACLs with winbindd using Samba 2.6 on Debian Woody (kernel version 2.4.18). 1. I am unable to alter permissions from Win2K clients using the Properties->Security interface. Is this normal? I get the "Unable to save Permission Changes on new Folder. Access is denied." message. This occurs with all accounts, both privileged and

Access to Samba server across subnets
Hello all, I'm using samba 2.2.7a with winbind on a RedHat 7.3 (pre-installed by Dell) server, with an NT PDC/BDC, with the NT PDC acting as the WINS server. Everything works fine on the local subnet 192.168.0.xxx, but we also have an IPSec VPN set up with our western call centre, and users on the western office subnet 192.168.10.xxx can't login to the samba shares. They can login to

FW: WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Thanks Mikko - pieced the 3 links you sent and got new configs... Well..I have successfully got the PAM files so NT users can login from the terminal as well as through the samba shares (no local users required), including using the NT groups to provide share level permissions. Now here is the next battle: 1. I can not access the shares using the linux local accounts --> recieve: the

Sporadic Issues
The problem is not icecast streaming, its trying to stream through a browser. It is very complicated to do. Each browser has it quirks depending on OS, version and what other audio programs that are installed. Having the external player link should resolve the issues. We gotten from using a browser player to letting the customer choose there fave audio player to use :) Even this has cause

Can samba refres the connection to the PDC?
Hi again =) If I have got this right? When a samba is in a domain security mode and loses the connection to the PDC example NT4, it drops from security = domain to security = server mode. Is this information correct? And if this is true is there any way to get it automaticaly get back to domain mode when the PDC get back on line. And if this isn't true why does it disallow to change the

Hi I think a part of your story was not clear : - You talk about an "upgrade" , it's an upgrade of icecast ? the OS icecast is running on ? Large (3000+ users) NT to Samba migration
Hi guys and girls, A client of mine is seriously investigating migrating their 7 NT servers and 3000+ users to Linux running Samba. I've read one or two documents so far about the migration, but I'm still a little unclear about a number of things. When you have a chance I'd really appreciate your guidance on the following items. 1.) LDAP, /etc/passwd or MySQL backend (if supported).

REALTIME and VARIABLES
Hi, I'm having some problem with realtime: let's say I have a dialplan like this [globals] IPPHONES=_3XX [sip] exten=>${IPPHONES},1,Answer A call from ip phone 300 comes in, and it's been answered. Then I "switch" the sip context to realtime, putting the exten in the db and using the variable name for this as in the file version. [globals] IPPHONES=_3XX [sip]

chroot'd SFTP
Thanks for these 3rd party hacks! I don't trust them. There must be such feature in openssh out of box. So the most secure/easyer method of giving sftp access to porn collection is: Damiens sftp-server chroot patch, which I hope to see in openssh one day :) http://marc.info/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=116043792120525&w=2 # useradd -d /data/p0rn -m share /etc/ssh/sshd_config: Match user

Efficient way for multiplying vectors with a only certain number of rows in a matrix
Dear R-users, I am working on a problem that I am currently not able to solve efficiently. It is about multiplying one column of a matrix with only a certain number of rows of another matrix. Let me illustrate my problem with an example: n.obs = 800 n.rowsperobs = 300 n.param = 23 Designmat = matrix(rnorm(n.obs*n.rowsperobs*n.param),ncol=n.param) Betamat =

encoding speex, (insanity looming)
Hi All, I'm very new to speex and in fact handling audio at all, it seems I have run in to a problem I seem unable to fix. I'm trying to take audio from a microphone using alsa, then encode it as speex and save to disk. I have been wondering if it has something to do with endian type, but speexenc and speexdec works fine. Currently I have the following setup: Platform:

Thanks for all the feedback. We haven't found any specific reason for the reported issue, but since our site redesign our listenership has gone up significantly so we're going to stick with it until we can find a specific issue with icecast, media element, or some other component. Hi Michel, The upgrade was for the whole site including media element player. Icecast was left in place though we started using it as our primary server whereas some users would get an MMS stream for windows media server previously. I was reaching out to the icecast community because as Linux and server people, I find the best answers with these types of groups. Sorry for not being clear about

Outdated information in regex.Rd
The NEWS for R-devel has the following item: > The previously included versions of zlib, bzip2, xz and PCRE have > been removed, so suitable external (usually system) versions are > required (see the ?R Installation and Administration? manual). Therefore I believe the following information in 'src/library/base/man/regex.Rd' is no longer valid: > If PCRE support was compiled
