Samba, Cups, printer driver download problems
I have Samba 2.2.6 complied against Cups 1.1.16 on a Sparc system running
Solaris 9. Cups has replaced the stock system V lp spooler on this system
(original packages removed.)
Cups working from UNIX command line is A-OK.
I have been working on setting up Samba to play nice with cups. I have
followed the instructions from both the Cups and Samba websites to set up

Kerberos Keytab Code Update in 3.0.23
First thing - I'd like to say a big "THANK YOU" to the developers.
I just upgraded to samba-3.0.23 and I've noticed an alarming issue with
respect to my configuration.
I've been using the built-in keytab management and it looks like the updated
code no longer creates the userPrincipal in Active Directory.
Whether this is an issue for others or not, it would be nice to have

bug in parsing the 'username map' in 3.0.5pre1
Hi Jerry et al,
the parsing of the 'username map' file seems to be broken in 3.0.5pre1 and
a few earlier releases. The '!' at the beginning of a line is ignored.
Something like
!lp = lp
!chbeyer = chbeyer
!guest = guest
nobody = *
doesn't work anymore :-(
from the man page:
[ snip ]
If any line begins with an '!' then the processing will

Group owner ID not mapped to name.
Hi,
I'm using samba as a member of a W2k domain (security=DOMAIN) and
winbind to unify logins with users from the W2k. The problem is that
when I assign an owner user and group to a file/directory in the samba
server the group is not mapped to the name of the group, the user is ok.
Instead it appears the group number.

working as a PDC and Print manager. The server has
several printers which share to everybody. This server
is using samba v.2.2.5-1
When I install a network printer in the clients

a "Lan Manager Printer Port" asociated with the
printer. Well, as we have seen using the

Me and a lot of people around in the list we are having the following
problem for sometime without solution.
I'd like to join Win2000 AD with Samba. I have samba-3.0.1pre3-1

Samba 3.2 PDC - Creating Zone Identifier files and not able to read/write/delete them.
Hello,
I use a Suse 11.0 as a Samba 3.2 PDC. The clients run XP SP3. I have
upgraded a few weeks ago from Suse 10.3 and now all files tranfer that I do
- for example, downloading a file using a web browser - it leaves a trash
file named "transferd-file:Zone.Identifier" or "tranferd-file:encryptable".
The odd thing is that from Windows I can`t read/write/delete these files.
