Problems with PAM in Samba 2.2.0?
I have a Samba 2.2.0 PDC set up running Linux and I have a Windows 2000 client computer. The Win2k computer can join the domain, but no one can log in. Everytime I try to logon with the Win2k computer, it says that the account is disabled. I can use the account to browse shares and mount the home directory from the PDC. I have added the account to a group on the Win2k computer. I found the

Replacing NT4 PDC with Samba 2.2.2
Hi Haven't seen any responses to my earlier post (Transferring PDC duties to Samba) so here's a slightly different approach I'm trying which someone can hopefully shed some light on. Is it possible to transfer domain-specific data from an NT4 PDC to a Samba 2.2.2 server, switch off the NT4 machine, set up smb.conf, switch on the Samba box such that the attached NT4/Win2000

samba sam problem [version 2.2.3a on RH 8]
Hi folks I'm new to this list, fresh into linux and samba. Simply love it :-) I have a customer that have about 10 XP pro machines connected to a linux samba server. Since there are a quite few documents that only two of the users are going to see, I use groups and different shares. This setup have been working for a while. Today everyone got access to everything - not good. Actualy very

I am trying to get roaming profiles working for my Win2K workstation and run a group login script at logon. My user account (traxx) can join and logon to the domain (DATA) but I get 2 error messages after authentication: 1 'Windows cannot create profile directory \\henry\dcarter\profile.pds. You will be loggeed on with a local profile only. Changes to the profile will not be propogated to the

What happened to this list?
Hello. I have been having some major troubles lately with samba and winbind. The last 5 posts I made, no one has responded. I did some looking around, and in the last several months it seems that very few people are getting any assistance at all on this list at all. Why is that? I haven't needed this list in years, but it used to be very different. Is there another place a person can

Attempting "Run As" = Failed to unmarshall NET_Q_SAM_LOGON
I run a Samba 3.0.2a domain controller under Solaris X86, with a Windows 2003 server computer joined to the domain. I am receiving a problem when I try and schedual a task (using Task Schedular), and using the "Run As" feature. I attempt to put the user DOMAIN\user for "Run As". Samba binding to two IPs, even when specified not to
Hello. I'm running RH 7.1, with Samba 2.2.2. VERY often I get a SIGHUP to smbd and it'll dump the workgroups. I also get a "Discarding datagram from IP 216.202.200.103. Source name ROUTER<00> is one of our names" all the time also. This line FILLS my logs. I don't understand this one, because I have the interfaces line specified in smb.conf to use only the local

smbd cpu spin & Failed to marshall NET_R_SAM_LOGON
Apologies if this has already been dealt with, but I am over 3 weeks behind on Samba mailing list reading - but desperately skimming to catch up. I have just upgraded to 2.2.2 from 2.2.1 in order to combat some runaway smbd daemons. This upgrade does not seemed to have helped. This is a Solaris 2.6 environment. Every time the smbd goes into CPU spin, I notice the following things: a) truss

Problems with Samba PDC and Win2k clients
Last week both win2k hosts on my clients network stopped working. Both report that they cannot copy files that are in the profile. All other versions of windows (includes XP, 98 and ME) kept working. Before last week all machines worked just fine. Here is what samba has to say about it: [2004/02/05 08:30:07, 0] rpc_server/srv_netlog.c:api_net_sam_logon(206) api_net_sam_logon: Failed to marshall

api_netlog_rpc: NET_SAMLOGON failed
Hi, I've got a RH72 box called FILESERV acting as a PDC for a while now. It's been doing fine with Win2k clients. The version of the PDC Samba is 2.2.3a-1. I've now added a RH72/samba-2.2.1a-4 machine called GOA to the domain. I've set it to use FILESERV as the password server. On GOA I created a local linux user that's name matches the one in the Windows domain (peter). It

smbd processes hanging around
Hi All, I am using Samba 2.2.3a as PDC to Windows NT 4.0 workstations. The PDC works fine except for the fact that the user processes (smbd) that are spawned, stay for a while even after the user logs off. The behavior of these processes is such that it is initially owened by user 'nobody' as soon as user logs off and then the process is owned by 'root'. The process eventually
