Manual Printer Driver Installations
Hey,
I posted a few days ago about how the printer paper sizes are differ from
the admin account
when they are installed. People at my work are getting pissed at the moment
and all they want to do
is to be able to change the paper sizes themselves and not have it done at
the server
Is there a way to do it?
I fluked it at one stage and had it working like that, I think I deleted the
driver

How can I make the Norwegian chars ø:Ø valid???
Hi I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with this problem that is really bugging me. I've set up samba alright, and it working perfect except for one little detail that I noticed the other day. I tried to copy a filname with the nowegian char ?, over to a samba share, then it turned into an o.
I then checked out the other norwegian chars, and they're working ok.
So I dont't

Configuring password expiration with SAMBA
I have been researching this for some time and have run into nothing but
walls. My local LUG has basically told me this won't work or at least
that no-one in the group has gotten it to work.
I am trying to setup some SAMBA servers to replace some NT and Novell
servers but I have been informed, by higher powers, that I must be able
to do password aging with whatever I setup (like passwords

It goes out of the window, or it stays in windows
I have installed RedHat Linux 7.2 and tried to get Samba working.
I have tried a lot, but I keep bouncing the fact that on the linuxserver it
is not possible to lookup itself using: nmblookup linuxserver.
All other machines in the network are ok. I can find them through the
nmblookup easy.
Broadcast is ok, subnet mask brought back to 255.255.255.0, in fact it seems
that all is in place as I have

Solution: Samba-2.2.3a and Win95?
Hi out there,
i got a very good hint to the solution
of the problem with the error-message:
2002/02/25 15:38:52, 1] nmbd/nmbd_processlogon.c:process_logon_packet(69)
process_logon_packet: Logon from 10.170.20.8: code = 0x0
The hint was from Demerson Zounar:

Refresh Script...
Not to many days ago, somebody posted a "refresh" script that I believe
allowed you to refresh samba without dropping currently connected users. If
this is correct, could someone repost please? I seem to have misplaced my
copy and now need it fairly bad.
Thanks,
Wade Winright

new feature in 2.2.6 ?
Hi Jerry et al,
will the 2.2.6 release show the printers in the 'add-new-printer-wizzard'
on the client like the WINDOWS server do ?
I'm not sure if you know what I mean, so here is a little illustration:

PDF Creation
I am not on the SAMBA list - so please if you reply remember to CC me.
My Linux users have access to ps2pdf - a nice tool to convert Postscript
files
to PDF files.I'd like to make it available to my PC Users - who don't
understand
what a command line prompt is....
I know the following works:
1) On my Windows machine - Add a new printer
an APPLE LASER POSTSCRIPT WRITER

Hello,
please dont come and say one instead of every windows
machine in your network, although it is something I
would like to see happening..
my network has two lans A and B, I plan to install a
SAMBA server in network A and have it act as a WINS

"Additional Drivers" and Print Window Refresh
I have RTFM'd, so excuse me if I missed something in the manual. :)
1) When I attempt to add additional drivers (the inital driver worked just
fine, when using the instructions in John's HOWTO), I get the following
error:

current version of Windows, or it may not be available. Select a

Win2k-->Linux-->Epson777
Hello Family,
My RedHat-7.2 box prints perfectly to an Epson777 color injet
printer which I gave an IP address via a mini printserver attached
to the back of the printer.
I have a Windows2000 computer hooking into the same RedHat-7.2 box
via Samba-2.2.2 fine.
I have not been able to get my Windows2000 box to print to the
Epson777 color injet via Samba.

like companypaper at domain.tld , which generates from excel doc etc to a pdf file with companypaper.
or plain at domain.tld same as above but no company logo.
or multipdf at domain.tld merge mutiple pdf files to 1. ( or multiple doc/xls files )
and this is much faster for us

winxp + sp3 = samba-shared printer hangs the system
hi,
since I upgraded some winxp-pro sp2 client to sp3, my samba-shared
printers are no-longer usable :-/
With sp3, if I run notepad and choose the men? File-Print, the "print"
window hangs and does not show any printer for about 1 minute! The
same thing happens when I click on the men? Start-settings-Printer and
faxes.
With sp2, everything works correctly and I can browse all my
