Win98 and Samba 2.2.3a (PR#26045)
Hi ! I'm sending you all my test smb.conf and the log file generated with a 2.2.5rc4 installation. The trouble is that I cannot create new directories (I'm using a WinXX Italian version). Then under Win98 I get the most strange behaviour. In addition to the above, using win98 I can't copy files from the share to the local disk (error 1026). Please help Thanks Valter Simo Sorce

Patches for samba 3.0.0 client/client.c
Patch against samba 3.0.0 client/client.c Mainly for -L parameter options 1.) Add a configurable connection delay. The default is too long. Add items to long_options of poptOption for help message, however I just put something "i.e. CONNSETUP" to the last parameter of long_options. It seems for use of documentation ???? 2.) Remark the code that require list_servers must using port

Slow Access Database on Samba
Dear All, We have an access database running on a Samba share (Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E) with a gigabit connection to the network. The front end of the databases are on the client machines with linked tables stored in a separate mdb file on the linux server. For some reason the database runs very slowly when it is set up in this way. I tested copying a 10 MB file onto the samba share and it

WinXP clients connect slowly to Samba
Folks, Haven't been able to find any information on either issue. 1) We have Windows clients (primarily NT4sp6a and WinXP sp1) connecting to Samba servers, and it works fine but the connections are slow. They take 5-10 seconds whereas connections to native Windows servers are nearly instant. 2) The WinXP machines seem to disconnect the SMB session to the Samba servers ASAP rather than

Samba 3.0 Alpha
Does net rpc join work in SAMBA (using HEAD from CVS compiled this morning) Configured with ACL, with PAM, and with WINBIND. It seems that I cannot rejoin my domain (PDC is NT4sp6a) after I turfed machine.sid and secrets.tdb. I tried using smbpasswd first and was informed to use net join rpc instead. Logs available if needed. Thanx Hans

are being offered by the server. You can check also what shares are being offered by the windows boxes the same way. I wonder why the other windows machines are not showing up in network neighborhood? Try sharing some things between windows machines. Maybe you have something misconfigured on the windows side. There is a script, findsmb, which comes with samba. First turn off nmbd (killall nmbd) ,

oplocks and pagemaker files
SuSE 7.2, Samba 2.2.6 User plaform WIN98se Was wondering if someone could point me to information regarding oplocks (I read the man on smb.conf regarding that and level2 oplocks)... I needed to set oplocks = no and level2 oplocks = no in order for them to be able to open pagemaker files from the samba server...otherwise it would say 'can not open file' I am just trying to get a grip on

Windows2000SP2/Word2000 slow printing
I suspect this is an old one but can't find the answer in the archives Symptoms: Word2000 "hangs"/ takes ages(minutes) to open document apparently due to doing something with default printer??? relevent smbd process on server runs up to 50-60% and stops there for several minutes. Oplocks seem to be created on downloadable driver files when printer is accessed DENY WRITE

network extremely slow
samba2.07,nt4sp6a I run a samba-server with 15nt-clients on a 100MBit-Switch. Now I faced extremely poor performance and really have no idea why. I even dont know if it can be a samba-problem. When copying myriads of small file from a client to the server or vice versa I get bad performance: 1000 files a 16kb: ~80seconds = 200kb/second But this is highspeed compared to copying from nt to nt:

2.2.8a-1, Raidzone, filesize > ~17.6GB
I am working with a Raidzone tech to solve a problem with our Raidzone NAS. The tech told me he has not yet posted to any Samba list about this, and gave me permission to do so. Using XCOPY from either NT4SP6a or W2KSP3, over varying network paths, a file of 18,490,235K-1 bytes or smaller will copy to the NAS successfully in about 45 minutes, but a file of 18,490,256K-1 bytes or larger will

still problems to join domain with W2Ksp2
Hi, what I've done: Installed Redhat 7.2 and Samba 2.2.2 from rawhide. Configured samba as a PDC and WINS-Server. Added Useraccounts and Mashineaccounts for my NT4SP6a-Users and -Systems. The NT4 Systems can join the domain, the Users can access the shares. Installed W2K with sp2 on an testsystem. I can access the shares with different users. I added the mashine account for the testsystem
