samba & acl & xfs
Hi all, again.
I am trying to set up samba with acl-support on a debian woody (final) box.
The kernel has got XFS-support and getfacl and setfacl are working fine since
I have built the acl-debian packages from SGI's acl-sources. Also attr-dev, acl-dev
and the appropriate kernel-headers are installed. The acl.h can be found in /usr/include/sys/.
But all my efforts trying to implement xfs

ACL fully functional?
I have compiled both my kernel (2.4.17) and samba (2.2.3a) to support

worries me, but I don't know if it should or not.

Samba 2.2.5 and ACL
Hi,
I've a problem in running configure for samba 2.2.5. I'm using redhat 7.3,
with ACL support from http://acl.bestbits.at/. I've tested that the ACL is
working on the filesystem, and samba can find it too. Here's the error:
checking if large file support can be enabled... yes

XFS ACLs vanish. (2.2.2a and 2.2.3a)
Hiya. I've got an XFS partition, have compiled and installed all the
XFS stuff, then compiled (with --with-acl-support) samba, which then
returns:
checking whether to support ACLs... checking for acl_get_file in
-lacl... yes
checking for ACL support... yes
Using posix ACLs
So it would seem to me that ACLs would be supported. So then I install
and run it, add the box to the (Samba 2.2.2)

SOLUTION :to can't copy files to samba volume
I've managed to fix the problem with copying to a samba share resulting in
the "server is no longer available message".
The problem was caused by the SGI libacl-2.0.9 upgrade. Seems like SGI
broke some of the attr function calls from the acl lib into the attr lib.
Since samba binaries tended to be linked ONLY to libacl, and not libattr
this caused issues with samba. My solution on

samba-ldap pdc howto problem
Greetings:
I'm on section 3.2 (page 7) of the SAMBA-LDAP PDC HowTo and am getting
errors. This is on a brand-new install on RedHat 7.2, using
openldap-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm, openldap-clients-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm, and
openldap-servers-2.0.23-4.i386.rpm from the 7.3 tree from a RedHat
mirror (Rawhide wouldn't let me in at that point) and
samba-2.2.4-2.src.rpm from RedHat's Rawhide tree.

How to compile Rsync with acl support on Cygwin
Problem:
-------
For sometime now, I have wanted to be able to rsync ACLs of files on windows
machines to a Linux server. I never saw anyone post anything about how to
make it work. I tried, but I was never able to compile on Cygwin when I
patched the source with the acls.diff patch. ./configure would error out
after displaying:

PATCH: Samba/Win2K renaming bug
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.1 + kernel 2.4.17. My
girlfriend's laptop is running Windows 2000 + service pack 2. She has
about a thousand MP3s stored on a Samba share on my RedHat machine. We
were finding that she couldn't rename any MP3s on the Samba share: she
would always get a sharing violation.
After a day of reading Samba logs at debug 10 (_such_ fun [ ;)

Samba 3.0.0 nt acl
I've upgraded to Samba 3.0 (samba-3.0.0.tar.bz2) from 2.2.7a and I am
having troubles with the acl-support.
I am running xfs with ACLs enabled and ACLs did work on Samba 2.2.7
I've compiled samba 3 --with-acl-support --with-winbind --with-quotas
But I still can't get the ACLs to work. Am I missing something?

make errors, rsync 2.6.9 with acls patch
Hi. I'm attempting to compile rsync 2.6.9 with both the acls & xattr
patches on an MacBook pro (ie: Intel processor), with the latest
Apple Developer Tools. While this is OS X client, I've enabled acls
via "sudo /usr/bin/fsaclctl -p / -e" and rebooted, prior to
attempting to compile rsync. Is there something else inherent in OS X
Server perhaps, that I'm still

I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. I have redhat 7.3 with
the 2.4.18-3 kernel and after applying the acl patches to the kernel,
running make menuconfig and make dep I then run make bzImage which produces
the following error:

samba and acl
Hello !
I am using samba 3 with acl support and when I use the "hide
unreadable" option, it only take the unix right. Even if they have read
or write access given by acls, people have to be the owner of a
directory to see it. I don't know if it's realy a bug or if i'm not
using it the right way, i simply add it to a share definition.
Thanks in advance !
