FYI...
I've just posted a snapshot of the current SAMBA_2_2

all of the post 2.2.5 printing fixes as well as fixing some
other bugs (such as VxFS quota support). Please test and

There have been some updates to the Mandrake packaging
thanks to Buchan. We are not building RPMS or *debs

Samba 2.2 CVS
Sure thing:
cvs -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot login
<password is cvs >
cvs -z5 -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot co -r SAMBA_2_2 samba
this will grab samba_2_2 and place it in a directory lableled samba.
leaving out the SAMBA_2_2 grabs HEAD.
you can get other modules as follows:
SAMBA_2_2
HEAD
APPLIANCE_HEAD
APPLIANCE_TNG
there are others but I haven't tried

Samba 2.2.7a, Solaris 5.8 and GCC 2.95.3 compilation warnings
Hi,
I have just compiled and linked Samba 2.2.7a
on a Solaris 8 server with the GCC 2.95.3
version compiler. I get the following compilation
warnings. Can i still use the software without a
expected crash?

compilation problems with 2.2.7a on OpenBSD 3.2 using --with-ldap sam
Hello, last weekend I downloaded installed the openldap port for openbsd
3.2, which installed ldap.h and lber.h (among others) into
/usr/local/include as well as liblber.a and libldap.a into /usr/local/lib.
Following that, I downloaded samba-latest, ran
./configure --with-ldapsam --libdir=/usr/local/lib
--includedir=/usr/local/include
which came back with no problems to speak of.
So I ran

Samba 3(PDC) + winbind, anyone has it working ?
Hi,
I have reported this(and seen similar problems by
others) before. I took the plunge today and trace into
the source to see what happened. The result seems to
be that winbind(or the nsswitch part) would never work
in a PDC/BDC situation, only for other trusted
domain(probably). Below is my analysis.
I have setup nsswitch.conf and pam.d/login properly so
libnss_winbind and pam_winbind are

RH9 compile problems AND WinXP netlogon script
Because of the original issue below, it dawned on me to re-compile Samba
after the RH9 upgrade from RH7.1. The make fails, and I was hoping someone
could shed some light on either/both issues. I'm compiling Samba 2.2.8a
with:
./configure --with-smbwrapper --with-pam --with-syslog --with-netatalk
--prefix=/var/samba --with-quotas --with-smbmount --with-shadow
No errors there, but make fails

Memory Leak in 2.2.6rc2??
We upgraded to 2.2.6rc2 yesterday to continue our resolving of the printer
driver problems. (Thanks Jerry & Rohin) For unrelated reasons I wanted to
log into the machine late last night and found Putty couldn't connect.
When I get in this morning the server was completely hooped with Out of
Memory errors on the screen with SMBD as the offending process. Trying to
log into any console

Does the newest version support Mulitibyte NETBIOS name?
Dear Sir,
I remember that I can use multibyte NETBIOS name (just as Traditional Chinese) in Microsoft Windows to talk with the previous version of samba (maybe 2.0.7).
But since I use 2.2.3a (which is included in RedHat 7.3), the log file name is incorrect when the client use multibyte NETBIOS name. And when I use the newest version (2.2.6), if the client use multibyte NETBIOS name, then the

samba error in all versions of samba code
This error is an error in the rpc code. It has been posted to the list
several times (this is my third, but at least ten times by others as
well). This error occurs with the linux rpcclient code in setting and
uploading printers to samba on the same box. It also occurs when
uploading drivers from Win2k and WinNt to the same box.
On the other hand, I do have two linux boxes, which appear to
