SAMBA + LDAP Single Signon Achieved
Hello all!! I have partially achieved full single-signon, synched passwords with Samba 2.2.5 and OpenLDAP 2.0.25 on Mandrake 8.2. I can change my PDC password from a Win2K box and it synchs the Linux/Unix/LDAP password correctly. I can change my password from Linux using 'passwd' and it synchs the PDC password. Samba is the PDC, and uses LDAP as the smbpasswd backend. This all works

smbpasswd + ldap questions
I would like to have sync'd Unix and Samba passwords. My Unix passwords are stored in OpenLDAP for uniformity across machines and services. I have some problems with the standard solutions to this problem though: * if I have Samba authenticate from OpenLDAP directly (using the smbPassword attribute), then I get sync'ing problems when the password is changed via normal Unix means. Logwatch - malformed password entry(uid not number)
Hi All, I've the following in the logs and am wondering why they are there. I also keep getting emails from SAMBA log-deamon (or something like that). [2003/05/19 15:24:29, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:getsmbfilepwent(364) getsmbfilepwent: malformed password entry (uid not number) It's not really serious (at least to me) but it's a cause for concern. Below are the details LInux

Installing 2.2.5 latest on Mandrake 8
Hi there I am a novice Linux user and am just trying it out - I am very impressed but also very frustrated. I have loaded Mandrake 8 on a box and have configured Samba for Windows pc's use this as a backup data server. Works wonderfully - but our campus administrators say that the current version of Samba presents a security risk(2.0.7) and should be upgraded. Thought this was simple but

Manage password change without windows...
[I'm subscribed, but with mail deliverying turned off. I will read the thread on web archive, but please CC me... i'm subscribed to the italian samba list, but there's no answer there...] I manage some samba domain (samba3 as in debian stable), using LDAP as backend and smbldap-tools. The domains born as windows-only, and they are still windows-prevalent, but i'm inserting here

XPS M1530 Draft to Complete?
Good morning all, I have been slowly tweaking the wiki document ref my XPS M1530 and think it's at a stage where I can remove the Draft status. However, before I do this I'd like opinions just in case I have missed something. Anyone care to add anything? On a seprate note I have been unable to get Bluetooth working under Linux so I will try and get more info as I can. At present I just

pam_smbpass.so passdb.tdb support
Hi, Recently I have installed samba 3.4.8 on my device. Since then ftp (vsftp, proftpd) which is taking users from samba database with pam_smbpass.so is not working. After enabling detailed log I have noticed it is looking for the passwords in smbpasswd (/etc/samba/private) which is of zero size . I think all users passwd are located in passwd.tdb.I could fix this by giving "passdb

Does any one know how to build a virtual network interface with vlan ID in dom0?
Dear all:     I met a problem recently.     I am using Xen to build my virtual network, and vlan ID is used to seprate different virtual networks. At first I built the network bridge with a physical network device with vlan as its port directly. Then my virtual host could send and recieve normal packets while these packets are encapsulated in vlan ethernet frames once they come into physical

Where is the construction of a dist object from raw data described?
Any reference to the appropriate documentation would be most appreciated. I am using the TSP module for clustering of HIV genetic sequences. The distances have already been computed and available as either upper-triangular or square, i.e.: a 1 2 3 b 4 5 c 6 d or a 0 1 2 3 b 1 0 4 5 c 2 4 0 6 d 3 5 6 0 The TSP modules takes in a "dist" object.
