Your password expires today problem
Hi, I currently migrate an existant earlier SAMBA (Version 2.2.9) / OpenLDAP (slapd 2.2.26) configuration to SAMBA (Version 3.0.25b-0.4E.6) / OpenLDAP (slapd 2.4.11). To preserve the compatibility with my schema.v2, my new smb.conf now contains : passdb backend = ldapsam_compat:ldap://w.x.y.z:389 (where w.x.y.z is the ldap server) Simultaneously, for same reason, i kept uncommented the

Password expires today with Samba PDC
FYI: I tried to search the mailing list archives but apparently it's broken.. Anyway, I've just finished a conversion from an NT domain to a Samba-as-PDC domain with W2k/SP2 and NT4/SP6 clients. When logging in, they are always prompted with "Your password expires today, would you like to chage it? Yes/No". Even if I change the password, it persists.. I found something

Password expires every month even though 'Password Must Change' is set to 'never' (Samba+LDAP)
Hi all, Since a few months ago Samba ask each of our users to change password at log on every month and I have not been able to disable it. I found this page and follow the instructions: http://playingwithsid.blogspot.com/2010/12/change-samba-password-expiry-setting.html The default 'Password Must Change' policy was set to never and pdbedit shows 'Password Must Change: never'

Making Mongrel/WEBRick serve static assets with future expires header
I''m creating a Rails application which will be deployed to desktop machines, running both the webserver and the browser (it''s a test- taking application which needs to be able to run without an internet connection). For this reason, I''ll be running Mongrel or WEBRick, without an Apache/ Nginx in front of it as you would normally do. The browser will access the Mongrel

Re: [slugnet] Password Expiry
Hi Elliot, I couldn't find anything related to smbpasswd expiry. Since u have "unix password sync = true", just a wild guess, if u could turn off password ageing in unix passwd file (man passwd for more detail) and see if problem persists. WinXP and Samba PDC Auth Problem
I have been running a Samba PDC with Samba version 3.0.0 on Redhat 7.3 for quite some time. My WinXP Pro SP2 system is part of the domain and everything has been working just peachy. And then, of course, I had to tinker with it. I upgraded the linux box to Whitebox Linux 3.0, a derivative of Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.0. It comes with Samba 3.0.7. After installing and updating everything, I

incompatibility between roaming profiles and winxp clients that didn't create them
[samba v3.0.24, gentoo w/ kernel 2.6.15] I'm hoping someone has some insight into the following problem that I've recently encountered: Basically, winxp seems to be creating roaming profiles that are incompatible with another winxp client. I've got two sets of winxp clients, which I'll call 'new' and 'old'. Profiles created (and perfectly usable) by the old

Users keep getting Your password expires today
I have a samba 2.2.8a PDC with Openldap backend. Recently XP Pro client users start to keep getting "Your password expires today" message and even after the passwords are changed the same message will just pop up the next login time. All the LDAP user accounts have [UX] as acctFlags value which I believe should mean that the password never expires (yes, bad idea ...) but it does not seem

Users from trusted domains get "Your Password expires today" in 3.4.3
Hello everyone! We've got a Samba domain that trusts another Samba domain and a Windows Server 2008 domain. We recently upgraded both Samba DCs from 3.0.x to 3.4.3 After that, whenever a user logs on a workstation in the trusting domain with an account from one of the trusted domains, he gets this message: Your Password expires today. Do you want to change it? Of course, the password

XP Logon and Samba PDC - another part of the puzzle
Hi, It seems a common problem that after successfully joining a domain (Samba 2.2.5/6pre PDC), the XP Pro client has a bizarre time trying to logon. The XP clients flatly refuse to even try and talk to the same PDC they just negotiated the domain membership with! I have read many postings (the signorseal registry hack is a must) but no solid answer as to how to get the client and PDC to talk.

Old SAMBA and WinXP....
Ok, here's a simple question, (I just rejoined this list so apologies if it has been asked a million times before). Our Company runs SAMBA 1.9-18p1 from a USS (Unix System Services) on an IBM Mainframe. I used to have WinNT 4.0, and I could access Files on Windows Explorer through SAMBA with no problems. Now I updated one of my workstations to WinXP Pro., and - no access to the Samba

Your password expires today problem
Hi. I enabled policies with pdbedit. Password must be changed every 90 days and must contain at least 8 characters. I enabled password history too. After that (I tried it in samba 3.4.3 and 3.0.25 with same behaviour) every time a user try to log in the domain using Windows receives a "Your password expires today. Do you want to change it now ?" message box. If the password is changed,

WinXP - Can Join 2.2.2 domain - Not log on
I have read through the mail archives to find a solution to my problem... to no avail. Here is the issue: I have a Samba 2.2.2 acting as a PDC, with Win2k I can join the domain and logon as a domain user. No problem. (So it is working and set up properly). With WinXP - Pro, I can join the domain, successfully. However, once I do the reboot I cannot logon as a domain user as I did with

Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win98 and Win95
Hello! Ive just got the lovely job of converting and old Windows NT 4 fileserver to FreeBSD, ive set up samba before as a simple fileshare but this place requires roaming profile login from WinXP, Win98 and Win95 clients. My question is whether or not any of you people have any experience with this and might be able to give some tips on the way? I've tried fidling with it but i cant get

Samba PDC and XP Pro Problem. (Not signorseal - fixed that one some time ago)
Hi, This is a simple query and may well have been answered in the mailing list archives but my searching can't find an answer to my specific problem. My PDC is Samba 2.2.3 on Redhat 7.3, clients are a mix of Win 2k and XP Pro laptops. The Win 2k laptops work fine (all service packs applied) and allow any domain user to log on to any of the 2k laptops. However the XP laptops if I try logging

Antwort: Password about to expire -- Turn Windlows Client Password Ageing Off?
Hi, there is a "X" value for the acount flags in smbpasswd ... it means no password expiry! I found it on passdb/passdb.c. If it work?s, maybe I don?t no! Also the password expire time ist hard coded in passwd.c too ... set to infinity. Take a look at the passwd.c code! XP and PDC patch alternative
Hey gang, I just joined the list but I've read back a few months and so far noone has mentioned this so I thought I'd drop a line on it. I haven't tried this yet, I have to get back to work to do so but. I think there is an easier way to disable signorseal then to apply the path. Microsnot addresses the issue in the following KB article.
