PDC upgraded from 2.2.7 to 3.0.0beta1, now XP clients can't logon
After upgrading the PDC from 2.2.7 to 3.0.0beta1, W2K clients still work but the XP ones cannot log on to the domain any more. The client pops up a message "The procedure is out of range", and smbd logs [2003/06/19 18:21:22, 0] ../rpc_server/srv_pipe.c:(1339) Invalid auth info 68 or level 5 on schannel [2003/06/19 18:21:22, 0] ../rpc_server/srv_pipe_hnd.c:(605) process_request_pdu:

"incorrect password length" when trying to domain-logon from XP to 2.2.3a
I'm trying to set up Samba 2.2.3a as a logon server for my Win2k/XP network. But when I try to join the domain with a XP Professional client (the SignOrSeal-Patch is installed, the other option in the management console is also set up) I get the error message "Login failed: unkown user name or wrong password" (translated from German) ... in the server's log there are the

Puzzle -- Logon/Login from Windows XP
I hope somebody can help me with this. I posed this question a week ago and got several well-meaning answers that were not very helpful. I have 10 Windows XP workstations and 100 users. Each of the 100 users has an account on my Samba server (running Samba 3.03 on Mandrake Linux 10). Each user has several shares on the Samba server which are unique to that user. In other words, only THAT

Samba PDC and XP Pro Problem. (Not signorseal - fixed that one some time ago)
Hi, This is a simple query and may well have been answered in the mailing list archives but my searching can't find an answer to my specific problem. My PDC is Samba 2.2.3 on Redhat 7.3, clients are a mix of Win 2k and XP Pro laptops. The Win 2k laptops work fine (all service packs applied) and allow any domain user to log on to any of the 2k laptops. However the XP laptops if I try logging

XP 2.2.8a issues
I have some 30 XP boxes in one offices joined to a w2k domain. The w2k server has no problem mapping drives on the samba server, however, the XP workstations refuse. Put in user name and password in the box after mapping, and it just pops back up like you've entered a wrong pass/user name. I have changed signorseal to 0 in registry to no avail. Of course, when the server was NT4, I

XP and PDC patch alternative
Hey gang, I just joined the list but I've read back a few months and so far noone has mentioned this so I thought I'd drop a line on it. I haven't tried this yet, I have to get back to work to do so but. I think there is an easier way to disable signorseal then to apply the path. Microsnot addresses the issue in the following KB article.

Samba3.0.1 - can't join new XP Pro pc to domain]
When adding machines to a Samba-2.2 controlled domain, the ?add user script? was used to create the UNIX identity of the Machine Trust Account. Samba-3 introduces a new ?add machine script? that must be specified for this purpose. Samba-3 will not fall back to using the ?add user script? in the absence of an ?add machine script?. > We have a very simple samba PDC setup using smbpasswd.

Problem joining Samba 2.2.7 Domain with Windows XP
I am attempting to join a Domain named WORKGROUP on my Linux box running Samba 2.2.7 from my SP1 Windows XP machine. Every time I try to join it says that the Domain doesn't exist or could not be contacted. Many months ago I was able to join all of our Windows 2000 machines to the same domain, but it may have been an older version of Samba back then. Also, I haven't dared try un-joining a

Samba3.0.1 - can't join new XP Pro pc to domain

Now all morning, I've been trying to add another XP Pro PC to the domain without success. The following message appears after typing in the root id/password as part of joining the domain. The following error occured attempting to join the domain

Duplicate name error when joining XP to Samba domain
Hi, I'm having problems trying to join my XPpro boxes to a Samba (2.2.7a) domain. I was able to get 1 XP box to join (the very first one) but the rest complain about a duplicate name on the network just after I enter the root/pw when joining the domain. None of the smb user names are in common with the machine names. The NT4 workstations have no problem joining the samba domain. All
