WinSock & Wsock32
I am struggling with the simplest thing, I think! I am starting with a fresh config file from the 20020605 wine distro and trying to get the ARS Remedy User win32 based software running. Part way through the install it tell me I need to install "Winsock 2". By this I am assuming it is looking for the 32-bit winsock Dll's, wsock32.dll * ws2_32.dll. I have tried many variations of

[Flac-users] Should I use 11 Khz or 22 Khz
Chuck, I'm doing a very similar project. I'm not an audio expert, but here's my take on the subject. 22KHz will take more space, but it is higher quality, and would probably be better if you ever decide to put them on CD (44.1KHz, stereo is the required format for CD Audio). There was a noticeable difference in the two when I tried recording at 11KHz vs 22KHz; I ended up just

Write security over Samba share?
I have RedHat 7.2 Workstation that is using Samba to attach to a RedHat 6.0 Server share. I have inserted the following entry in /etc/rc.d/rc.local on the workstation: mount -t smbfs //office/Shared /mnt/shared -o username=xxxx, password=xxxx Access is fine, but I am unable to write to the share. I have Chmod-ed, Chown-ed and Chgrp-ed the share so that it is completely available with no

Reading a password-protected PDF
Hello respected developers, I was wondering if it is possible for xapian to read a password-protected PDF. Searches in the archives and google had yield 0 results. I also tried looking at the source code but I could not find the specific one related to this issue. The characteristic of the set of PDF is as: 1. a set of password protected PDF documents 2. all PDF is set with the same password. 3.

[Flac-users] FLAC/LPAC/Bzip2 better for archival?
Hi. I am a student with limited funds and storage space on my linux box. So I am trying to decide what audio compression scheme to use for my collection of audio tapes (recordings of one speaker, preaching in an church auditorium, recorded with low-grade mics and tape decks) converted to digital audio (16bit, stereo, WAV, 44100Hz). Is FLAC, LPAC, or a standard data compression format better for

Youtube Video
Hi there, I've created a litle video explaining on how to setup some group policy to redirect folders using Active Directory Tools and Group Policy Management tools, it works and I've tested it so i decided to include it on my small youtube Linux collection. Hope you enjoy it and like; might be it can make it to the wiki video library. Thanks for Samba 4, it really _IS_ the thing.

What version of Samba will work with an AIX version of Unix?
Hi all We are currently looking to implement a scenario where our AIX Unix Server and Windows Server can communicate with each other using a version of Samba. We currently scan images which are stored on our Unix system and ideally we would like our Windows Server to have access to these files. The software we use for our daily business is Unix based so the the scanned images have to be

[PATCH v2 OPW] libxl: change most remaining LIBXL_LOG to LOG in libxl_qmp.c
Coding style has recently been changed for libxl. The convenience macro LOG() has been introduced, and invocations of the old macro LIBXL__LOG() are to be replaced with it. Change occurences of the old macro to the new one in the functions qmp_handle_response() and qmp_handle_error_response(). The new macros need access to a local libxl__gc *gc, so add it as a parameter to both these functions,

structuralObjectClass and smbldap-tools
Sorry, if this has been dealt with before, but I couldn't find it. I tried installing openldap 2.2 + samba 3. Currently I only have one install of openldap 2.0 and samba 2.2 running. Now, it all looks quite good, but the smbldap-tools do not add the necessary structuralobjectClass entries, so using the tools fails. I was able to manually change the first populate - which could be exported
