package Rgraphviz or similar
Hello R users I am looking for a package to visualize "relatively planar" directed graphs, with say 100 nodes and specified using an adjacency list. 'Rgraphviz', currently listed on the R-FAQ, seemed suitable (FAQ version 2.9.2009-06-05) But when I looked for the package, I found it had been recently "removed" and was instead directed to archive copies

display SVG, PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PPM in new plot frame
Dear R-help I want to display an image file in a new plot frame. SVG is my preferred format, but I can also consider PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and PPM (from ImageMagick). By way of background (although not material to this posting), the image file is generated by a call to 'dot' (part of the 'Graphviz' suite) after the required .dot file has been produced using hand-crafted R code.

Generalized Additive Model
Hello, I am wondering if someone can direct me to the syntax of the Generalised Additive Model in R? In Splus this is gam(formula, ... inputs would be pretty much the same as glm I suspect..) Any response on that (or what package should I grap) would be appreciated very much. Thanks, Peppy Adi-Purnomo -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help

new R-wiki page: display image files
Hello R-help My recent post on this topic has now been reworked and added to the R-wiki. http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=tips:graphics-misc:display-images I am more than happy to take comments (on or off-line) and enter any relevant changes. Regarding the proposed R documentation list, I think this could be a good idea and probably a better place for this kind of traffic.

documentation / An Intro to R / list manipulation
Hello R users http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-intro.html An Introduction to R 6.2 Constructing and modifying lists After a short but successful struggle with nested associative arrays (using named lists), I think the following documentation change might be beneficial. The existing description and example (see below) implies that the given statement would transfer the component

Pareto frontier plots in three dimensions
Hello all This is my first posting for some years. I am back using R again and must say I do like the language (regarding scripting, I also use matlab, perl, and bash). My question involves plotting a Pareto frontier in three dimensions. This is strictly a exercise in visualization, I make no attempt to extract the Pareto set (aka dominating subset) first. EXAMPLE PLOTS For some example

RH8 guest: bad fs?
I recently reinstalled RH8 as a VMware guest on a WinXP box. I used a previously proven script at level 3, containing, in one line with no inappropriate spaces: mount -t smbfs -o user,noauto,dmask=777,fmask=777,username=xx, password=yy //DELLBOX/linuxShare /mnt/linuxShare I get a failure that reports numerous possibilities including bad fs, and other other things. I suspect I omitted a

Permissions problem
Hi everyone (oh yeah, and I am new to the list but have a little Samba experience). I have a Samba 3.0.1 install on a Fedora Core 1 (.2138 kernel non-smp - not that it should matter for this). I have created a group called "osla" for the users in my domain and I have Samba working properly as a PDC, or at least properly in so far as I can join clients to the server, run scripts and

Windows 7 Clients Slow/Unresponsive with some file types
I am having some unresponsive and very slow performance with a couple of different file types with Samba and Windows 7 clients. The problems manifest in the following manners: IGES files, these are CAD files. When opening up certain IGES files from the server, the application can take upwards of 10 minutes to open up the file. If I copy the same file from the server to the desktop, the

How to force Windows 95 to use specific Domain?
Hi, we' ve installed a Samba server in an austrian school. To have a good access control to the network, everyone have to authenticate against our samba server. Now the following problem occurs: When somebody enters another domain name in the login-mask's domain-field, the person can easily use this PC with all users/password combinations. Does somebody know, how to turn off the

If there is a more appropriate list for this question, please let me know. very low speed local network browsing from win xp clients
Hi Everyone there! We have a very annoying problem since several months when browsing the local network (workgroup) from win xp clients (from win98 clients it's almost OK). The machines in the workgroup appearing very slooow (about 15-20 sec), and this value doesn't change even in the 2nd or 3rd browse. We have 1 linux (debian 2.4.21 pre 3) pc, running the samba (2.2312) server, about 15

Anyone use PDQ with Samba for Printing
Hello, ** Please reply directly to ian@ichilton.co.uk ** Does anyone use PDQ for printing with Samba? If so, please could you tell me what options to use in smb.conf?? Mainly, what do I use for the printing option? Can I just use: printing = bsd print command = pdq -P%p %s; rm %s Or, can I not use PDQ, because there is no setting for it on the printing parameter??? Thanks! Bye for Now,

PDQ printing (network)
Hi, no archive on this question... Using 'pdq' to print to a networked ps printer is ok under RH7.1 Linux. How do I config wine for networked postscript printing? 'pdq' knows about its own ip/port setup, so the command line is: 'pdq filename.ps' Thanks!
