Win2k and PDC logon.
Dear Samba Experts.
I an quite new to samba but know the basics of creating chares and
permissions, I think!!! Been digging into HOWTO for pdc logon using
windows boxes.
Having great difficulty in getting win2k to complete and logon to a samba
2.2.5 PDC configuration. Win98 is ok and runs the logon scripts as
required. I have attached the smb.conf used and can confirm the directory

Trouble with CUPS/SAMBA
Hi all,
I'm new to this list, as to SAMBA, and I'm
struggling with getting a printer to work
as a shared printer in a Windows network
with a redhat 9 server.
The printer is a HP 4550 Color LaserJet, installed
with CUPS to the server, via JetDirect (port 9100).
It prints testpages fine from the Linux-server. It
was installed with the install-printer-utility in
RedHat9.
I have then shared

( could not post complete reply, message too large?)
I think that's why I have a lot of black screens on the clients.
Here debian pdc smb.conf:
root at fai:~# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options (perhaps too
# many!)

computers. One is a Win XP Pro and the other is Fedora Core 1 sharing a
cable modem connection via a D-Link Router. With these to computers I
want to be able to share files in-between the two of us. With samba I

Network path not found - Windows to Linux connection
I am trying to use Samba to access files on Linux server from a Windows XP client. The server is running RedHat Linux 9 with Samba 3.0.21a installed, and the client is running Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2.
After installing the new Samba package on the server, I edited the configuration file, started the service and added a user with smbpasswd.
To test that this was all working, I

A few odd problems after server migration
Hey guys... I've been beating my brains out trying to determine the
cause of this problem, read tons of stuff online but have not been
able to make any headway.
My RH9 server bit the dust and I had to completely rebuild it. Built
it as a Fedora Core 2 server running Samba version 3.0.3-5 and
re-imported my old smb.conf file, smbpasswd file and such.
Re-created my share and gave it 777

Can see server, but can't see shares. Whazzup?
Hi,
I have configure Samba 2.2.7-5.8.0 on my RH 8 box. The smb.conf file
is attached below. From my WinXP box, I see the box in my network
neighborhood. But, when I try to "open" / browse the server from said
box (on the 192.168.0 network), I get the message:
\\World2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network

samba crashing on startup
hi,
i've been trying for like two weeks to figure out why samba doesn't run
properly. from the logs it looks like smbd will start followed by nmbd.
then nmbd will exit for no apparent reason. i'm able to start samba
manually with the command '/etc/init.d/samba start'. right now i'm
assuming nmbd is the reason why samba doesn't load. i'm running samba

wins support = yes time server = yes
When I set:
wins support = yes
time server = yes
my wins service stops working and no computers show up in the network
neighborhood..as soon as I change time server = no, they start to
re-populate.
I have looked around and havent found a definitive answer (apologies if I
overlooked it)...
but if someone could tell me if this is a documented issue, or just me that
woudl be great
Thanks

question regarding smbutil
Hello,
I'm trying to use smbutil with the user/pass/host argument.
I have no problem using it this way....
smbutil -v view //user@host
Password: *******
but if I try this way....
smbutil -v view //user:pass@host
it prompts me for a password when I already specific it in my command line.
Am I using the right syntax? Please let me know. Thanks.
