winbind issues with AD domain trust
I'm setting up Samba in an environment with 2 Active Directory domains setup
with a one way trust (DOMAINA -> DOMAINB). Samba is in DOMAINA. From
looking at the logs (see below) it appears that winbind is having troubles
getting the credentials for the domain controller in DOMAINB.
I can get tickets, using kinit, for accounts in both domains. I can join
DOMAINA just fine. Running

Fitting a kind of Proportional Odds Modell using nlme, polr, lrm or ordgee
Hello,
I'm trying to fit a special kind of proportional odds model from:
Whitehead et al. (2001). Meta-analysis of ordinal outcome using
individual patient data. Statistics in medicine 20: 2243-2260. (model 2)
The data are as follows:
library(nlme)
library(geepack)
library(Design)
library(MASS)
options(contrasts=c("contr.SAS","contr.poly"))

[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
Hi
The Dragon book, led my thoughts to "Here be dragons"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_be_dragons
"In another context, software programmers sometimes use it to indicate
especially difficult or obscure sections of code in a program so that others
do not tamper with them."
Why not some dragon name ? or maybe someone can use this idea to come up with
something else.

reading data from a pdf

If cut and paste to a text file fails, try this:
pdftotext (from the xpdf project)
or
http://pdftohtml.sourceforge.net
pdftohtml is a utility which converts PDF files into HTML and
XML formats
In addition, pdftk, the command line pdf toolkit may be useful

upgrading print server from 2.2.8a to 3.0.8
Hello. I'm having a bit of trouble with my upgrade. I installed 3.0.8
over a copy of the 2.2.8a directory, and when I went to start it up, got
errors about accessing the secrets.tdb. I was able to use tdbdump to
access it and created one in the new format using tdbtool, but then it's
also unable to access other old-format tdb files, most notably ntdrivers
and ntprinters. The only

Vorbister
Some interesting domain names have been registered recently. Looks
like someone has grabbed vorbister.com, sounds like
a possible Napster clone for vorbis files!

Hi All-
Sorry for this Off-Topic message but is there a method
for unsubscribing other than sending email to vorbis-request@xiph.org.
My mail server thinks vorbis-request is an invalid username
and will not send the mail.

Uninstall question
I need to uninstall R 2.7.1 from my Mac. What is the best way to uninstall
it? Simply delete the R icon in the Applications folder?
Or is it more involved?
TIA,
Anjan

Calculating the average after adding 3 matrices
Hi all,
Here is my problem:
I have 3 matrices , A, B, C.
Each is an nXn matrix.
I need to create matrix D such that : D[i,j]= (A[i,j]+B[i,j]+C[i,j])/3.
Being a newbie this is proving to be a challenge.
Any ideas on how best to accomplish this?
Thanks!

row-wise means
I have a dataframe with 3 columns. The first column stores an index. I would
like to calculate the mean of the numbers stored in each of the rest of the
columns.
So,
here is my data matrix:
col1 col2 col3
1 23 34
2 45 56
3 23 56
4 34 68
For each row I would like to calculate the means of the numbers stored in
col2 and col3.
How can this be done in R?
TIA,
Anjan

Filtering on a dataframe- newbie question
Hi,
newbie question. I have a data-frame with 3 named columns: Name, Obs1, Obs2.
The Name column members are made of alphanumeric characters: T1, T2, T3 etc.
I would like to acess only that subset of the data-frame with Name == T44.
X <- dataframe[dataframe$Name=='T44'] does not work.
Any ideas on how to do this?
I'm sure I'm missing a simple concept here.
Thanks,
Anjan
