Dangling MS Access DB Lock Files *.ldb
I have an intermittent problem with dangling MS Access DB lock files. In a productive environment with N batch queus (each on a separate Windows XP Professional) a scheduler PC dispatches the work load to a free queue by means of modifying a simple MS Access DB file called "PRIM.mdb", which resides on a Samba 3.0.20 share. Each free queue PC polls the same MS Access DB file every 60

frequent core dumps (invalid lock_order?)
Hi, I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. My samba version is samba-4.2.10-6.2.el7_2.x86_64. I have lots of daily core dumps (~20 on each machine daily) and I have no clear idea why. I'm including the stack trace below. It looks like the problem is related to "invalid lock_order". Any ideas? Thanks, Sergei #0 0x00007fc5a34945f7 in raise () from

samba and ntfs flash drives ???
Hi All, Google is killing me here! Scientific Linux 7.2, 64 bit $ rpm -qa samba samba-4.2.3-11.el7_2.x86_64 Is there some trick to mounting an NTFS USB flash drive and sharing it with Samba? I am trying to share an NTFS flash drive with samba. If the drive is not mounted, I can do what I want from Windows 7 and XP on the mount point. I have full access. But, when I mount the stick to the

Problems with Excel & MS Word files (still)
Problem is apparently with locking issues, disabled oplocks in the [general] section, and the problem actually got worse... Here's what happens: User-A part of group1, opens Excel file off of share, saves, exits... User-B (or even User-A for that matter) tries to re-open same file, get error stating it's locked and can only open for read-only access... Both users in the same group, and

Can't log in
Hi. We've been setting up a Samba server, running under Slackware 7.0 All the required PCs are running Win98 and can log in except one ! We've checked that it's set up as a Unix user, has the appropriate password, is in the hosts list, is in the smb.conf file and has a smbpasswd entry - exactly the same procedure as the others which do work. Seems strange that just this one machine

Permission denied for home, even when it's 777
I cannot access home samba share from windows. Windows client displays a permission denied error. The problem is not Linux permissions for the user directory, permission is still denied when permissions are to 777. I don't think the problem is selinux, because no denials appear in any logs. I don't think it's an extended attributes issue from xfs, because I don't see any attributes

No such file or directory - but it is there.
I have a problem when installing applications from a Samba share. I have been using this share for sometime with no problems, but now after installing 3.0.6 I have an issue. Most applications I have work fine, only three are suspect. OfficeXP, will start the install but it stops with the error, installation source has been corrupted. The Samba log show it is looking for the file

Problem resizing partition of nfs volume
Hi: I have an NFS volume that I'm trying to resize a partition on. Something about the fdisk process is corrupting something on the drive Before running fdisk, I can mount the volume find: $ mount /dev/sdo1 /home ... and the volume is mounted fine. And, $ e2fsck -f /dev/sdo1 /dev/sdo1: clean, ... But then I run fdisk to rewrite the partition table of this drive, to expand the /dev/sdo1

CPU consumption by samba
Hi, I'm having strange performance problems with samba and an application written with VisualFox Pro. It has strange performance problems with Windows 2000 Server: it runs fast with some servers and slow with

NFS mount problem
Hi, We have a major problem using Samba to access NFS mounted directories. The directory in question is on a Snap server running OS 3, and Samba is running on a new Sun V250 running Solaris 9; the NFS directory is mounted using udp. The problems occur when trying to load a file, which causes the samba process to crash. Another process starts automatically, crashes and so forth. However, the

permission/acl troubles
Hi list, Since I've upgraded from samba 3.0.23c to 3.0.25c my ACL's don't work as expected anymore. I'm not sure where the problem is, however. The symptoms are simple: with 3.0.23c, I could grant and revoke user, group and world write access to and from files in a share. With 3.0.25c, I can't do that anymore. When I deselect group or world read access and apply the
