Samba 2.0.3 and NT Terminal Server SP4/MetaFrame 1.8
I'm running NT 4.0 Terminal Server (Service Pack 4) with Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 on a PC, and Samba 2.0.3 on an HP-UX box. We've been having occasional problems with files not saving correctly, and also with files not unzipping or copying correctly. I suspect it's some sort of incompatibility between Samba and Terminal Server/Metaframe and/or SP4. For

Inter. between Samba 2.2.x and 3.x w/ LDAP backend (and another changes)
Hi all, I have a network that are composed at this way: - Samba 2.2.8a PDC - Samba 2.2.8a BDC - Some Samba 2.2.8a as MS - OpenLDAP 2.1 as backend (w/ Samba2 schema) We are planning some changes, including change the domain name. For this, we planning to setup the new Samba 3 domain on the same environment as the Samba 2, and sharing the same backend using the ldapsam_compat feature. After the

Groups and LDAP
I'm a little weak on how the groups assignments work with Samba and LDAP. The Samba HOWTO collection says to map each Domain Group to a UNIX system group, but if all authentication is done via LDAP (Unix and Windows) then do the groups still have to exist on the Samba Unix machine? Where do the RIDs fit into all this? I don't see a schema in LDAP for sambaGroup. Do I create the

win2k/xp crashes after logon to PDC
Very strange on my desktop(win2k) I don't get this problem but on other workstations both win2k and winxp I get this. After logging on to the Domain a windows labelled 'Sas Window: winlogon.exe - Application Error' pops up with the following message: The instruction at "0x00650076" referenced memory at "0x00650076" The memory could no be "read" I

Migration: server with smb 2.2 -> new server, 2.2 too, weird issues
Hello all at the samba list. The other day there was a migration of server; the old one had Samba 2.2 (.6) working normally. Every user logged in the domain without problems, their SIDs and the domain SID were right, everything was ideal. But a server update was needed, and a new server was installed, also with Samba 2.2 (.12). The difference in version is not important this time as other

Windows 2003 Terminal Server - domain users not being able to log on
I have set up Samba 2.0.4 on Fedora Core 1 as the PDC for the domain, and we have a Win2003 server as a member server w/ Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0 installed. Domain users can log in locally just fine, but only local users can log in through Citrix or RDP. When a domain user tries to log on remotely, Win2003 rolls the progress bar for a few seconds, and then responds: The

Outlook XP on NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition & Samba
To start with, I'd like to praise the entire Samba Team, Samba 2.2.3.a compiled and installed perfected. I wish all vendors could do that good of job. Great documentation too! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. Now that the "cheese" is over with... I posted a problem the other day concerning the funtionality between Outlook XP .PST files and Samba 2.2.2 & 2.0.7 on Solaris 2.6 As it

Win2k logout exception error with Samba 2.2.3a-12.1
I am running Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 as a PDC on Debian 3 (kernel 2.2). All seems to be working with 2 exceptions. The worst problem is when I logout of my Windows 2000 desktop. While the Win2k machine says it is "Saving Settings..." it will come up with an error box giving me a fatal exception in application unknown. The message box title says something like: "SAS Window:

Samba - NT Terminal Server error
Hi all, I have a Dell PowerEdge 6300 running Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition (SP5) + Citrix MetaFrame 1.8. We are running Samba 2.0.4 on a Sun Enterprise 4500 with Solaris 7. The smb.conf specifies server-based authentication, and specifies the Terminal Server as the password server. The users are not allowed to directly log on to the Sun box, so on that server

Samba and Citrix Metaframe.
Hi Folks, I was wondering if anybody else on this list is using, or trying to use, Samba (esp. on an IBM mainframe) as a print server in a Citrix Metaframe environment, or are we the first? We're getting one or two odd problems... Metaframe is creating the printers on our Samba server as "Client" printers, rather that connecting to them direct. We can connect and print fine from

2.2.3a PDC Win2K Citrix Profiles
This weekend I upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a then made it the PDC on our LAN. Original PDC was an NT4 Server. There is a Win2K Server running Citrix Metaframe-XP, and the old NT4 PDC Server was replaced with another Win2K Server to be the Database Server. I didn't want to bother with setting Win2K up as a DNS and DFS/ADS Server (required for being a PDC), so selected to make SAMBA the

Redirector timeout error with samba 2.09 and NT WTS
I found a post from a year ago which matches my current situation almost exactly, except that we are using samba 2.09. Anyone resolve this yet? Here's the previous text... *********************************** I'm running NT 4.0 Terminal Server (Service Pack 4) with Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 on a PC, and Samba 2.0.3 on an HP-UX box. Asterisk and Citrix
I have recently played with and did get a working copy of Asterisk functioning in the lab environment. Then when I moved it out of the lab and onto the outside of our firewall it functions as before except that I get a Connected to Asterisk CVS-08/21/04-12:16:04 currently running on 63 (pid = 1478) ??? -- Starting Skinny session from ??.???.114.131 (PIX (6.3) our firewall) Aug 26 14:48:34

Citrix Web client
Citrix Web client lets me login to the Metaframe server, but when I try to launch an application, I get a message that I cannot connect to the server. I must have 128-bit SSL support installed. . . . I'm using Firefox 1.5 as a browser and I can log into my bank, which requires the 128 bit SSL, so somewhere between logging into the Citrix server and trying to launch an application,

SV: Samba-Citrix compatability
I have searched for some FAQ/HOWTO regarding Citrix/Metaframe to no avail. (Like this one http://samba.org/~jht/HOWTO/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf ) What I would like to see in such a FAQ/HOWTO: - Compilation issues regarding Citrix/metaframe - - ie the need to increase the MAX_CONNECTION setting before compilation - - ie how to compile samba to a 64 bit application to get more available file

Featurerequest: LDAPgroups as groupOfUniqeNames
Hi, This might be a featurerequest for 4.0, but I would be happy if it could go into 3.1 or something. I would be very happy if Samba could add the DNs of a user instead of his/her uid to a sambaGroup, thus using the groupOfUniqe names objectclass for administering groups. This would make groups inline with the LDAP consept of groups and make it possible to use them in ACLs etc. Tarjei

Mapping all members of an AD group to a single unix username?
Hello all I've tried various permutations in the smbusers file ( referenced by username map ), to get all members of a Windows AD group to be able to authenticate to a Samba Share, mainly along the lines of DOMAIN\GroupName, but I can't figure out a way to get this to work. What I need is for any member of the DOMAIN\SambaGroup to authenticate to the Samba server as the unix user
