samba browsing through subnets with different nethoods
Hi everybody I installed 2 subnets, one with a samba PDC fully functional and the other with just one linux client (called CLIENTE) with samba running a basic configuration. Subnet 1 has a samba PDC called BAR (domain FOOBAR with ip 192.168.1.1) that is also the wins server for both subnets and the domain master browser for 192.168.1.0/24 bar:/var/log/samba # smbclient

log output and browse list problem
Samba List: I have a multisite setup connected via T1/VPN. Each site has it's own SMB server (Debian 4.1) and between 6 and 70 PCs connected to it at a time. Each is a PDC for it's respective site, on different domain names. Any given site may have to access files stored on a different site's server, so SMB traffic is allowed between locations. We've had a problem for a while now

domain_master_node_status_fail
I'm trying to set up Windows browsing between subnets. I've set up a domain master/WINS server on the .0 subnet, and local masters on the .42 and .254 subnets, and I'm running into the above error on one - just one - of the subnets. The strange thing is that I'm running exactly the same version of RHEL on another subnet - and I'm getting no error. 3.0.25 on RHEL5. The

2 servers won't sync browse lists accross network
We've got two samba servers either side of a modem link and I'm trying to get them to sync browse lists. Using remote sync and friends the servers try and sync but invariably each time one does the other end rejects the `browse sync sessionsetup' i.e. sync_with_lmb: Initiating sync with local master browser BOX1<0x20> at IP 192.168.1.2 for workgroup WORKGROUP 04/06/1998

remote subnet browsing and NT4.0SP3
Hello, I have a samba 1.9.18p4 server running as a domain master browser on a subnet, with some clients distributed on other subnets. If there are only Win 95 clients on a subnet, browse sync works - but not if there are Win NT 4.0 SP3 machines on that subnet. Error from nmdb (at log level 3): sync_with_lmb: Initiating sync with local master browser MAILHEIDELBERG<0x20> at IP

Browsing Problems
Hello. I've got a Samba server and I'd like it to be master browser and everything else except domain controller (the customers wants a workgroup, not a domain). Lately a Windows 2003 server was added to the net and then I guess it was removed. I keep getting messages like the following in the logs: > Apr 10 03:07:51 apocalypse nmbd[57552]: [2005/04/10 03:07:51, 0]

cannot bind when doing a browser sync
I hope this isn't too long, and I hope it's the correct list. I have a network configuration where I have 2 hosts, A and B. Each has a local LAN on which the run Samba, plus they're connected by a VPN. So has A has addresses lanA and wanA, and host B has addresses lanB and wanB. Because of the way the VPN works, they can talk to each other either via their LAN addresses (lanA

Sync browse list between multiple workgroups?
(Samba version 1.9.18p4) I want to set up my environment thusly: - 2 workgroups, each composed of multiple subnets. - Each workgroup has a DMB and a WINS server (Samba only - no NT) - The two workgroups should collate browse lists so that clients on either workgroup can browse and connect to hosts on the opposite workgroup. I've read the documentation in BROWSING.txt and it does not appear

simple cross-network browsing setup is failing
PROBLEM: Cross-subnet browsing is not working. Browse lists on all machines contain only the machines on the local subnet. SUMMARY OF ANALYSIS: The Local Master Browser (LMB) running Windows XP (ZAYIN) never contacts the Domain Master Browser (DMB) running Samba (BETH) to initiate a synchronization of browse lists.

Samba BDC in the same subnet not getting connection requests
Hi, I have a Samba 3 PDC running with around 20 Windows XP/2K clients. The PDC and the clients are in different subnets. I recently decided to add a Samba 3 BDC in the same subnet as the clients, to give some failover and also to reduce across-switch traffic. After creating the BDC, I restarted one of the clients but don't see it establishing connection with the BDC, instead it connects as

A make problem with Samba 2.2.4
Hi, I've downloaded Samba 2.2.4 today and attempted to install it on our Compaq AlphaServers running Compaq Tru64 v5.1A. It configures OK, but "make" produces a few serious looking warnings. I've captured both "./configure" and "make" to the attached text file. Examples: .... Compiling smbd/password.c cc: Warning: smbd/password.c, line 664: In this

CentOs 5.6 and Time Sync
Hi, I have upgraded my Dell C151 to the latest 5.6. I have always used ntp to sync this machine and then the rest of the machines in the network would sync from it. Since the update I cannot keep the right time on the machine. This is with / without ntp. I have attempted various scenario's with no luck. I am now trying the old kernel now as I type this out. If anyone else has any
