Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients. When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the "1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do the same on Linux (with the lpr

Printing XP -> 3.2 Now really slow (just like the old days)
Guys, My wife needed to print something this evening to our normal HP 4 attached to our cups server running samba-3.2.1-0.1.126. Nothing has changed in the last two months going from 3.0.28a to the 3.2.x flavor of samba. However, something has brought printing to its knees. I pulled out all the old tricks, hacked the registry to delete any entries in HKCU\Printers\DevModes and DevModes2 of

Hi, I have a situation that causing premature gray. All printers are connected to HP JetDirects. A test print from Linux prints. Sometimes a test print from Win98 works, usually it gets a spool32 error and I have to reboot the workstation. No NT machine can print. There are NT 4 and Win2K machines. When I setup a printer, it doesn't configure a port. In Win98, I can add a port in printer

Configuration after installation problem
I'm fairly new to wine. I'm running the version (Wine 20050211) that comes with SuSE 9.3. I had been using the version that came with SuSE 9.1 (Wine 20040213), and recently ran the SuSE 9.3 upgrade installation. Getting ready to try installing Word Perfect 8.0, I've been reading the help documents. I recollect a warning not to run wine as root. By mistake, I did so. When I did, it

The use of goup policies in XP and Vista
Hi all, Can anyone point me in the right direction to apply Group Policies from a Samba 3.0.26 PDC to my Windows XP and Vista clients. I read chapter 26 of the Samba manual (dated April 3 2003) and I was wondering if the NTConfig.POL file in the NETLOGON share is the way to go here? Regards, Joost.

One windows game i installed, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, has a simple config utility that sets game settings based on your hardware. This utility is detecting only 64MB of video memory. Sid Meier's Pirates! crashes consistently
I'm running Wine v.1.1.26 on Xubuntu 9.04 on a brand-new machine from IbexPC. I installed Pirates, installed the 1.02 patch, and overwrote the executable with the No-CD exe. I can get the game to open and run, and with the right settings, it runs really well--but only for a minute or two. Then the game crashes with the following error: The program Pirates!.exe has encountered a serious

Running text app without X
I'm sure this question comes up waaaay to often in this list, and I apologize if I've missed the obvious answer. I did spend the last two hours looking for a solution and trying various things, but to no avail. I'm trying to run a command-line app (text-only). It's a cross-compiler tool for which we only have Windows binaries. The app works fine, but when I run it (i.e. to

PDC: Logging out from Windows XP SP2 takes a long time
I have samba set up as primary domain controller, and have problems with my Windows XP SP2 machines. Logging in is quick, but most of the time (nine out of ten times) the logout process takes a long time - I do end up rebooting, but once I let it stay and it took a whole hour before it was logged out. It seems to act the same way for all users. Possible sources already eliminated: - I have

Windows 7 problems
Hi, I have upgraded to Samba 3.5.6 for Windows 7 Pro compatibility. I am in a test phase to evaluate the behavior of Windows 7 in a Samba PDC environment. I have one Samba server as a PDC with tdbsam backend (no LDAP at all), and I applied the reg and patch as described in the wiki. I have a couple of questions related to Windows 7 : - opening a domain session on the Win7 client takes a

Can Windows 'Network Drive' name be changed ?
In Windows Explorer, 'Network Drives' section, the Samba share I've set up is described as: share on 'Samba 3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE (Our_server_IP_Address)' (K:) Is there any way of configuring Samba to display something other than "Samba 3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE (Our_server_IP_Address)" as the Network Drive description, for example: share on 'Our Samba Server' (K:)

Rcpp too good to be true?
Hello all, I've been working on a package to do various things related to the Conway-Maxwell-Poisson distribution and wanted to be able to make fast random draws from the distribution. My R code was running quite slow so I decided to give Rcpp a bash. I had used it before but only for extremely basic stuff and always using inline. This time I decided to give making a proper package a go.
