I'm a new linux user trying to run samba on Linuxppc R5 but smbd doesn't
appear to be responding properly. Both nmbd and smbd are configured as
daemons and netstat lists netbios-ssn as listening. I can't find anything
else that would conflict starting from inetd. Nmbd appears to work as I can
list the available servers and the server is seen by the clients but I don't

OK, I've got the following problem:
I just installed Samba-2.2.4 on a kind of LFS. The client seems to work well (at least on remote machines), but when I try to print the local share list..... here it goes:

Hello Samba Gurus,
I am running FreeBSD 2.2.6-STABLE and Samba 1.9.18p8.
I am unsucessful in logging into the server (from Windows or UNIX using

smbclient-2.2.8a cannot connect to samba-3.0.0 server
Hi
I have a problem with subject. I have a samba 3.0.1 server to which both
windows and linux (using smbclient version 3) users can connect perfectly.
But smbclient version 2.2.8a or earlier users cannot connect to this
server. I have searched release notes, changelogs, the linux.samba
newsgroup and found no indication of others having the same problem. Most
likely it is something I have

Printing to a windows printer (ERRSRV 22)
Hello everyone,
I am trying to print from my linux-box to a networked
windows printer "konica 7040" (actually it is a copier
which can print too) with samba. I got as far as to
configure Samba and file shares are working quite
well, but not the printing. I traced back to this
problem to a single "smbclient" command which returns

Very often we could not mount clients via smbmount. In case of error there
is a following log (debug level 10).
Any hint/suggestion would be great.

Problem with smbclient->MSDOS Server
Hi All,
Here's an interesting one... I need to be able to connect smbclient on a
linux machine to a dos based machine, which is running MSCLIENT and the
WG1049 patch. I can browse to the machine and see all the files from
Network Neighbourhood in Windows, but if I try and go in with:
smbclient \\GAUGE1\C, or even just smbclient -L GAUGE1
all I get is:
Added interface ip=10.0.1.1
