Samba + pdb_mysql - password hashes disappearing?
This is using samba-3.0.2a, as downloaded from us2.samba.org today (19th
of April), on Debian Linux.
I have setup and gotten mostly-working the MySQL PDB for Samba. It
queries the database correctly, pulls in the data, etc.
However, when I connect as a user, I get:
[2004/04/19 15:56:23, 3] libsmb/ntlm_check.c:ntlm_password_check(182)
ntlm_password_check: NO NT password stored for user

PAM Module for SMB-LDAP
Hi Everybody,
maybe we are just too stupid, but for me it seems that
there is some problem with holding passwords completely
sync between *NIX-world and WIN-world when I use LDAP
& Samba.
If a user changes a password under Windows, with "passwd chat"
the *NIX-Password (attribute: userPassword) can be changend
very well besides the both Samba-LDAP-attributes lmPassword

Sol 2.8 - Samba 222- --with-pam compile errors
Hi
I'm attempting to compile samba 222 on Solaris 2.8 using Sun Forte 6 C
compiler but I'm getting error messages.
I used the following sequence of commands:
setenv CC cc
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba.22 --with-acl-support --with-pam
--with-pam_smbpass --with-syslog
make

Cannot log in to domain
Hi folks,
Just yesterday, my Samba installation on OpenSlug suddenly stopped
working, out of the blue. Now, users on my WinXP SP2 systems cannot
under any circumstances log in to the domain. Local Windows users
however can map shares with no problem.
When a domain user attempts to log on to a domain member PC (joining
the domain works fine, by the way), they are denied with the generic

Debian and dovecot
I have Debian 3.0 (woody) and installed the dovecot packages and it works ok
with the default configuration. I want to change the default configuration,
is any of this possible?
a) I don't want to create accounts for each user, can I have a mailboxes
directory with the mailboxes of all the users? They are not many (10-15).
b) The authentication right now is done through PAM, the

[PATCH] tdb multiple format
Hi,
As I said yesterday, I worked on a solution for tdb format in order to
manage easily new fields for this format.
So I add small changes to init_sam_from_buffer and init_buffer_from_sam
in this purpose.
The data TDB_FORMAT_STRING became an array which contains the list of
the different fields format which exist.
When the tdb file is read, for each records, Samba will try the most

Enabling logs in pam_smbpass in samba source code
I am facing some problem with samba 3.4.8 PAM pam_smbpass module, both
vsftpd, proftpd are not working ..I have opened thread at
http://forums.proftpd.org/smf/index.php/topic,4739.0.html

I want to see the _log_err messages from pam_smbpass , for that I have

samba and pam
Since I now have something which at least pretends to work, I suppose an
announcement is in order.
Those among you who track samba development are probably aware that samba
1.9.18p4 includes support for synchronising a unix database when changing
an SMB password. I'm currently working on a PAM module which will provide
similar functionality for all applications compiled with PAM support:

logon home with ldap under win98
Hello,
I hope this is the correct place for this mail... I have found that
samba-2.2.3a (--with-ldapsam) gives the correct logon home for win2k,
but not for win98. Obviously the two systems request the information in
a different way.
For win98 machines, in lanman.c, the information is taken only from
smb.conf, and not from ldap (or other backends).
I have attached a small patch that yields

user password expiration patch (Samba 2.2.4/2.2.5 PDC with LDAP)
the following problem occurs when using samba 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 with ldap
support as PDC:
any time when a user logs on he is asked to change his/her password.
whether he change it or not he will be asked again next time he logs on.
this is annoying.
the reason is, that the LDAP attribute 'pwdMustChange' is not updated at all.
the easiest way to solve this to set the attribute to the

Wrong behaviour in pdb_get_set.c: pdb_get_pass_can_change_time?
Dear List,
we have several server installations in local schools serving files
with samba. The users are stored within an ldap database.
We then tried to set the smabaPwdCanChange time somewhere in the future,
but had to see, that samba didn't honored the given value.
I then got the source, looked at the logs with an high log level and
searched my way though it to two important functions,

Confused about prerequisites for ZFS to work
I''m hoping to get some general clues about what all is required to get
an experiment going with zfs.
I''ve managed to install osol-11 in a vmware on windowsXP host from a
recent *.iso.
I''m following along with Simon''s blog showing how to set up ZFS. I''m
newbie with both ZFS and Solaris but the instructions seem pretty
clear.
However I''m
