In NT Domain, when I double click on the Samba machine, I get network path not found. What am I doing wrong? Please help. acl resource
Hi, I'm confused of where to set ACL? Do I set them in SWAT under Security Options (using Valid Users, Force Group, ..., etc.)? Or do I need to hardcoded them with setfacl? Or set them in NT client? Please direct me to the references? I already have xfs, acl, attr, compiled in. Regards, Norman

Samba Resources Hog
Hi, I have a Linux box with 512MB RAM and running Samba 2.2.7. I noticed that memory is constantly decreasing when I typed free. If I run ps aux, I see that more and more samba sessions are opened, some by root and some by users. Is this normal? Won't Samba close unused sessions before opening new sessions? Or is this a memory leak somewhere. Regards, Norman

Hello, I have a share [/projects] with multiple directories inside, each created for purpose of different projects. On Win2K I was able to specify users who were allowed to access particular directories and in some cases particular files (in case there is any secret file I was allowing access only to one person responsible for the project). I was wondering if it is possible to switch all server

external journal
Hello! I have some questions about external journals. On a 4 disk software RAID 5 I have two big devices (one 60 GB, one 180 GB). I would like to give each an external journal on a 2 disk software RAID 1 device and use data=journal. The journal will get its own partition with mke2fs -O journal_dev /dev/mdwhatever. The used 6 harddrives are all IDE drives, they are connected through

feedback on a few ActiveSupport::Multibyte patches
Hi all, In response to Rodrigo Rosas''s message about mb_chars.upcase not giving the expected result on 1.9, I''ve done some work in a fork to make String#mb_chars always return an instance of a proxy class, both with Ruby 1.8 and Ruby 1.9. The end result of the patch is (hopefully) to make Rails'' multibyte functionality behave the same way in 1.8.7 and 1.9.x.

problem with simple if() statement
the following code apprantely, for some grand old reason, induces a syntax error: if (seq[i] = "A") m <- trans[1,] where seq is a vector and trans is a matrix. I cannot for the life of me see why this is wrong. Syntax error is: Error: syntax error in "if (seq[i] =" Sincerely, Norman Goodacre ---------------------------------

Limiting Users
When using windows NT and Netware there are ways of limiting the logins of users such as only allowing them on between 9am - 5pm and limiting maximum concurrent connection to one. Is there a way of enforcing these restrictions through samba or similar? Many thanks Gareth Norman

Samba4 upgrade compatability
I have an existing install of Samba4 ( I think beta6 vintage ), which uses ntvfs and bind9. It's only providing AD and Group Policy. I have a seperate file server running 3.6.x. I want to add a server to the domain running the most recent RC. I know they are using internal by default and s3fs for the file shares on sysvol. Can s3fs coexist with ntvfs? Can the internal DNS coexist with
