2 quest.: cups - samba and ACL under HPUX
Hi,
I have tried to use cups and samba together. Everything works
great, however I am not able to configure and/or setup
samba correctly, that the clients are able to install
the driver.
To test everything I used a dedicated system installed
a fresh SuSE 8.0 and compiled samba (2.2.4) and
cups (1.1.14). I only userd a differnet prefix for
samba. Everything else is default.

cupsaddsmb - problem; once again
Hello,
I posted 2 weeks ago this problem and it is currently not working.
First thanks a lot for all the hints and helps.
In the attached file I have added (hopefully) all informations.
To summarize:
I want to setup a print server, which allows the user to
download the necessary files for new printers.
Installed are (on top of suse 7.1) samba 2.2.6_pre2 and cups 1.1.15_1.
Installed the printers,

"could not open file /var/lock/samba/unexpected.tdb"
When I start winbindd (Samba v2.2.3a on Linux), I get the entries in
log.winbindd shown below. What's the story on all those complaints about
file "unexpected.tdb"? There is no general problem with Samba writing to
that subdirectory:
# ll /var/lock/samba/

Some problems with samba 2.0.7
Hi,
we are using samba 2.0.7. on our HP file-server. For
the NT users everything is ok, but we are not able
to setup WIN95/98 computers to use the shares.
All computers are within the same domain. Shares
of NT-pc can be used and also shares from other linux
boxe, but NOT from the HP.
The global section is the same on the linux and HP machines.
Any idea ?
How can we check what is going wrong ?

Overloaded samba server. Is it a bug?
Experts,
We've just migrated from samba 2.2.8a to samba 3.0.20b in a very large
corporate environment. Everything was really fine in our lab, but we
began
experiment serious load problems on the productive servers the morning
after
the procedure took place. I'll try (briefly) to describe the
characteristics
of the scenario:

tdb lock failures
We've just gone live with a file & print server, and are having major
problems with Samba. When used out of hours, with all PCs switched on
and connected to the domain, everything works fine. However, during the
day, we have problems where users can't print to any samba-hosted
printer, Access database applications (where the database is held on the
server) won't work, or work

re. Initial Samba Setup
On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the
output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see
the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the
local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log.
Here is the last entry for nmbd.log:

can not find samba server through broadcast
Hi all,
I am running RedHat 7.3 and Samba 2.2.3a. I am using DHCP for my Linux box
(hostname: NGPLinux, IP 132.189.26.62). I can see the list of shares I
defined by using "smbclient -L NGPLinux -N". I can resolve the name using
"nmblookup -U 127.0.0.1 NGPLinux". However, when I tried to use "nmblookup

Gurus,
I have downloaded and compiled 3.0.2a.
I can map from 2000 to my share fine.
If I try a smbstatus I get errors, see below.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Probs with SAMBA(HPUX)<->NT connection
Hi,
I have the following problem. We are using a linux box
for the export of $HOME to NT-clients. All NT clients
are patched not to use encryp. passwords.
Now I tried to move everything to a HP9000(11.00).
Samba (2.0.6) installation was easy. I've just moved the
working smb.conf to the hp and it won't work. :(
I tested everything from a linux box as described in
diag.txt and it works.

brlock.tdb/locking.tdb permissions problem?
I'm running 2.11, and I've noticed a number of log entries that look
like so:
angie.log: tdb(/usr/local/samba/var/locks/locking.tdb): expand_file
ftruncate to 8192 failed (Permission denied)
[2004/10/03 15:14:36, 0] tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_log(531)
tdb(/usr/local/samba/var/locks/brlock.tdb): expand_file ftruncate to
8192 failed (Permission denied)

Samba + Win2k works, Win2003 fails
Hi all,
I've finally almost gotten my desired Samba+AD integration working: I've
joined a domain, AD users can login, kerberos works (keytab integration,
caching, etc.), etc.
However, this is only true as long as I hack my /etc/hosts
and /etc/samba/lmhosts files to trick Samba into always using my
networks Windows 2000 Active Directory Server. The second a Samba
command finds and
